: question mark. When he leaves next week, he might just be their Opening
: Day starter.
Pavano成為了今年洋基春訓最大的問號,不過他下禮拜踏上征途時,很可能就是今年洋基開
幕戰的先發投手.
: No, that's not a misprint, but the result of Chien-Ming Wang's strained
: hamstring, Andy Pettitte's balky back and Mike Mussina's schedule.
喔不,這不是我們在唬爛(也不是typo),但是由於小王拉傷的腿.Pettitte緊繃的背,以及穆
帥的輪值表,這件unbelievable的事情就這樣發生了.
: "It's Opening Day, but there are 161 other games," Joe Torre said. "It
: certainly is an important game, but so are the other ones."
"只不過是場開幕戰而已,還有161場硬仗要打勒~"Torre不希望媒體太關注這個問題.
"這當然是場重要的比賽,但其他場季賽也一樣重要."
: Should the Yankees bestow the assignment on Pavano, he would be making
: his first start for the Yankees since June 27, 2005 - a span of 643 days
: - due to a multitude of injuries and mishaps.
如果洋基就這樣讓痛痛人先發的話,他將會在643天前的2005.6.27以後再次上陣--由於

: Pavano missed the final three months of the 2005 season with rotator
: cuff tendinitis, though no structural damage was ever found in his
: shoulder. He missed most of spring training last year with stiffness in
: his back, then when it looked like he was ready to return, he suffered a
: bruised backside while pitching on the final day of the spring.
最後痛痛人因為旋轉肌腱炎讓他的05下半季全部報銷,儘管從頭到尾都沒有在他的肩膀上
發現什麼結構性的傷害(= =...).後來因為背部僵硬他又缺席了隔年大部分的春訓時間,
後來當他看來要重返球場時,在春訓最後一天的出賽他的背瘀血,又再次讓球迷囧了= =
: He then made three rehab starts in the minors last May, only to leave
: his game on May 17 with discomfort in his right elbow. He underwent
: surgery about a week later to remove a bone chip in the elbow, shelving
: him for another two months.
後來在去年五月他在小聯盟出賽了三場復健賽,然後在5/17時又因為右臂不適,最後一週後
以開刀移除右臂的一片碎骨,再度賠上了兩個月.
: On Aug.10, he made the first of four rehab starts, but five days later,
: he suffered broken ribs in an automobile accident. Not wanting to be
: sidelined again, Pavano hid his condition from the team, but after he
: left his Aug.25 start with soreness under his armpit, he revealed the
: true nature of his injury, infuriating the Yankees for hiding the
: accident.
8/10,OH MY GOD他終於回來了,但是在預計四場的復健賽中的第一場後,才過了五天他就因
車禍弄斷了他的肋骨(囧).並不想再次置身場外的Pavano隱藏了他的病情,但是8/25在他腋
下酸痛而退場後,他終於坦承了受傷的情況.這次隱瞞病情的事件,讓洋基隊大大的不爽.
: Pavano has pitched relatively well in his four games this spring despite
: a 5.84 ERA, taking the ball regularly without any physical problems.
這次春訓痛痛人表現的"相對地"好,儘管他以5.84的防禦率收結(囧...能投就好是吧XD).
謝天謝地,這次他沒有再次讓他的玻璃身體的哪個地方再碎掉了~XD
: Torre and pitching coach Ron Guidry had lined up Wang, last year's Cy
: Young runnerup, to open the season at the Stadium on April2. But Wang's
: hamstring injury will keep him on the shelf for most of the season's
: first month, eliminating him from the conversation.
Torre跟投教Guidry本來已經計畫好要讓去年殺進賽揚決選圈的小王,來4/2時投出今年洋
基季賽的第一球.沒想到小王的傷讓他幾乎整個四月都要被擺在DL上,失去了這個機會.
: "That's why we never announced it. You never know what's going to
: happen," Torre said. "He was lined up for it, and it was pretty much
: understood, even though he was never told that."
"這就是為什麼我們遲遲不宣布的原因.你永遠不會知道接下來會發生什麼."Torre說."他

: Wang's injury would seemingly leave Pettitte, who signed back with the
: Yankees after spending three years in Houston, as the favorite. Only
: Pettitte hasn't thrown off a mound since suffering back spasms earlier
: this week, leaving it doubtful that he could be ready to make his final
: spring start before the end of the week, and Guidry wants him to throw
: two bullpen sessions before pitching.
小王的傷勢似乎讓今年被從太空人簽回來的Pettitte成為了首選,但是他在背部肌肉的緊繃
之後,還沒有在投手丘上投過球,使得他能否在這週結束前上春訓賽投個球都成問題,並且
Guidry希望他先在牛棚投過兩次再上場.
: "To me, it would be a long shot," Torre said of Pettitte starting the
: opener. "We're not really thinking that can happen."

: As for Mussina, he allowed four runs in six innings yesterday, and while
: he isn't battling any health issues, he would have to make his final
: spring start on short rest next Wednesday in order to be lined up for

: With the top three starters out of the mix, that leaves Pavano, Kei

: Torre indicated that he would take several factors into account when
: choosing his Opening Day starter, including how pitching in an amped-up
: atmosphere such as the home opener could affect the pitchers.

: Given that it would be Igawa's first big-league game and Karstens is a
: 24-year-old who has made eight big-league starts, Pavano would seem to

菜鳥而已,看來痛痛人真的是"蜀中無大將,廖化當先鋒"嘍~~
: "If you think somebody is going to be a little bent out of shape over
: it, it would probably enter into it," Torre said. "But if a guy is going
: to pitch at Yankee Stadium, whether it's Monday, Wednesday or Thursday,
: there are going to be a lot of people there."

: Aside from the question of who will start the opener, Wang's injury
: throws the rotation into a bit of chaos, since the Yankees were looking
: to skip either Pavano or Igawa a couple of times during the first three
: weeks of the season. Now, both starters will likely be part of the
: regular rotation, with Karstens the leading candidate to pick up fifth
: starter duties.
先別管誰要打頭陣先發了,小王的傷勢給輪值表投下了一顆震撼彈.本來洋基隊希望痛痛人
或是井川可以先在開季跳過先發觀察一下(也就是第五號),沒想到現在他們都得成為開季
輪值的一個不可或缺的要角,而Karstens更像是會搶下五號先發的位置.
: "Sometimes when somebody gets hurt like this, they (situations) become
: bigger than they really are," Torre said. "There are other people that
: are capable, so that's where we need to go right now."
"有時候當有些人這樣子受傷時,他們的地位似乎就顯得更加地重要了."Torre說."是有別人
可以選擇,所以我們也只得現在就這樣將就用啦..."
