Yankees' Wang dominates spring-training game

OAKLAND, Calif. - Chien-Ming Wang said his strained right hamstring was "100
percent better'' after throwing 55 pitches in an extended spring-training
game yesterday.

Wang felt so good that he threw an additional 15 pitches in the bullpen after
facing a team of Tampa Bay prospects at the Yankees' minor-league complex in
Tampa, Fla.
小王的狀況好到 賽後還到牛棚投了15球

Wang was dominant, throwing five hitless innings with one walk and six
strikeouts.
小王掌握全場 投了五局無安打 送出一次保送 六次三振

"I'm feeling great,'' he said. "I want to get back to New York.''

But first Wang will start for Class A Tampa on Thursday against Clearwater.
If that goes well, he could rejoin the rotation on April 24 when the Yankees
face the Devil Rays in Florida.

"He was great,'' said Joe Torre, who got a report from general manager Brian
Cashman. "Good velocity ... first inning he was up a little but after that he
was solid.''

球速很好 第一局球有點高 但之後就堅不可摧"

Wang was injured while running sprints on March 23. The team's choice to
start on Opening Day, he was instead placed on the disabled list. He was 19-6
with a 3.63 ERA last season.

"Everything was good,'' Wang said. "My leg is fine.''

Extra bases: Mike Mussina tested his strained left hamstring by running a
series of sprints with Andy Pettitte on the warning track before the game. He
will throw in the bullpen this morning as will Carl Pavano, who has a sore
forearm. ... Torre planned to start Jorge Posada but went with Wil Nieves
after Friday's game lasted 11 innings. ... Torre, Derek Jeter and Robinson
Cano will wear No. 42 today as Jackie Robinson's debut is remembered by
baseball. The jerseys will be auctioned off for charity. ...
Double-A Trenton threw 22 shutout innings in a doubleheader sweep of
Connecticut yesterday. The Thunder have  not allowed a run in 46 consecutive
innings
