兩個月前，超人在坦帕基地，不斷的直噴天空，也噴了幾發高潮連連的球。超人
檢視了攻略 G 點的練習內容，彷彿就像加藤鷹親自授課一般有如神助。他的金
手指經驗值，足以讓他季賽提槍上陣也不會萎縮。

: As one member of the Yankees’ organization watched Rodriguez’s display, he
: strayed from what was happening and pondered what could happen.
: “I hope we don’t lose him,” the person said.

洋基帝國裡的人看了超人的噴發後，不斷的想著花生省魔術以及皆下來可能的事。
他說：「偶希望偶棉不會失去他。」

: That thought, the possibility that Rodriguez will opt out of his contract and
: become a free agent after the season, hovers over the Yankees. Rodriguez has
: said that he wants to finish his career in New York, but Scott Boras, his
: agent, did not negotiate an escape clause simply to make a 10-year, $252
: million deal sweeter. It is there to be used, not ignored.

超人今年球季結束後將行使逃脫條款變成 FA，這種可能性不斷地籠罩洋基上下。
超人也曾經提到他想要在洋基結束他的男優生涯，不過他的經紀人 Scott Boras
並沒有談成這條逃脫條款，來讓這筆 10 年兩億五千兩百萬美金的肥約更肥。

當超人在九下兩人出局後射出三分彈使得洋基以 8-6 逆轉勝笑臉人之後，他就已

: Rodriguez was 0 for 4 with two strikeouts and a throwing error that led to
: Cleveland’s sixth run before getting a final chance against Joe Borowski.
: After a wild pitch moved the runners to second and third, Rodriguez might
: have fretted about Borowski trying to avoid him.

: “I told him if he opted out of his contract, he could sign a billion-dollar
: contract right now,” Bruney said.

: Manager Brian Cashman has said that the Yankees wuold not try to sign
: Rodriguez to an extension, which enables any interested suitors, like the Los
: Angeles Angels or the Chicago Cubs or the Boston Red Sox, to plot now how
: they could slot Rodriguez into their payroll. Cashman politely declined to
: discuss Rodriguez’s contract status yesterday.

約，此舉也吸引了其他球隊興趣，像是天使隊、小熊隊、甚至是紅襪，都開始規劃如
何把超人塞到他們薪資總額裡。現金人昨天裝禮貌拒絕討論超人的合約問題。

: While Rodriguez has told teammates that he loves New York, he also loves
: being the highest-paid player in the game. It is doubtful Rodriguez would get
: a contract that averages $27 million a year, but, if the Cubs gave Alfonso
: Soriano an eight-year, $136 million deal, Rodriguez, who is a superior
: player, would surely find a team to offer him more. It could end up being the
: Yankees.

超人雖然告訴隊友說他愛紐約，可是他也樂於當個聯盟最高薪的球員。超人可能會得
到一紙平均年薪兩千七百萬美金的肥約，雖然這種說法尚待查證，不過如果小熊可以
給 A. Soriano 八年一億三千六百萬的約，那像超人這樣更屌的球員，絕對有球隊可

: For now, Rodriguez is deflecting questions about next season and pledging to
: keep everything simple. Torre said Rodriguez had not done that often enough.
: “He’s dealing with every at-bat, as opposed to trying to make up for

: too pricey, but that could have been a negotiating tactic. Lou Piniella, the
: Cubs’ manager, would relish being reunited with Rodriguez, whom he managed
: in Seattle.

撇開超人季後賽鳥掉不談，事實上的確有球隊開始想說服他了。天使隊的老闆 Arte
Moreno 已經嗆瞎說雖然超人太貴了，不過仍然有談判空間。曾經在水手隊當過超人教
練的小熊經理 Lou Piniella，也提出了「跟超人重聚會讓人高潮」的理論。

: The Red Sox had a deal to unload Manny Ramirez to the Texas Rangers for
: Rodriguez in 2003, but the players union negated it because Rodriguez was
: deferring too much money and was not receiving benefits to alter his
: contract. Surprisingly, Rodriguez then landed in New York.

紅襪在 03 年曾經跟遊騎兵隊有過交易，藉著釋出 Manny 來交換超人，但是被球員工
會打回票，因為改約的話超人會卡到很多錢，也得不到任何好處。不過令人驚訝的是
超人之後棲身在紐約。

: If the Red Sox wanted Rodriguez so badly once, it is natural to wonder if
: they would have interest again. Third baseman Mike Lowell is a free agent
: after the season. The addition of Rodriguez would either give the Red Sox a
: staggering batting order in the 3-4-5 slots of Ramirez, David Ortiz and
: Rodriguez, or enable them to deal Ramirez.

如果紅襪曾經這麼想要得到超人的力量，那他們現在仍然有興趣自然不讓人意外。三
壘手 Mike Lowell 今年球季結束後就是自由球員了，如果多了超人助陣，紅襪就會有
猛爆的三到五棒的打擊順序: Manny, 老爹, 以及超人。或是用 Manny 來交易超人都
可以。

: Naturally, Rodriguez will be booed when the Yankees open a three-game series
: against the Red Sox at Fenway Park tonight. The visit will be another test
: for the newly relaxed Rodriguez, who went 0 for his first 16 the first time
: he played there as a Yankee.

洋基今晚到紅襪的芬威球場，開始三場的系列戰，而超人也一定會被噓爆。這次客場作戰將會是「新舒爽超人」的另外一次考驗，因為超人剛身為洋基一份子的時候，作
客芬威球場的前 16 個打數都噴不出來。

: “It felt like 0 for 50,” Rodriguez said at the time.
: How will it feel this time?

超人說：「我那時覺得塞住了，感覺我噴五十次都出不來。」
那這次呢？

: “He’s enjoying himself and not stressed to worry about having those big
: games,” designated hitter Jason Giambi said.

「他很自爽，一點也沒有覺得這種大比賽會有壓力而擔心起來。」指定打擊大吉說。

: For Rodriguez to play the big games that will truly test him, the Yankees
: have to make the postseason again. Rodriguez said he had not smiled this much
: since his daughter, Natasha, who is 2 ? years old, was born. Whether
: Rodriguez is still smiling in October is an unknown. Whether Rodriguez will
: still be a Yankee after that is a much bigger unknown.

對超人來說，在這種大比賽中登場也是一種試煉，因為洋基還是要打季後賽。超人說
自從他的兩歲小女兒 Natasha 出生後，已經很久沒有笑得這麼爽了。超人在十月季後
賽是不是還能狂抽猛送？我們還不知道。超人今年球季球結束後，還是不是洋基人？
就讓我們拭目以待。
