The day after a start that raised his ERA to 7.84, Kei Igawa spent 20
minutes in the visitors' bullpen at Tropicana Field chatting with pitching
coach Ron Guidry.

One conclusion is that Igawa will change his between-starts routine.
 Instead of throwing a side session three days after a start and then
having one day off before his next start, Igawa will throw in the bullpen
today and rest two days before facing the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.

發之後的第三天,在牛棚試投,之後休息一天.改成今天在牛棚試投 之後休息

"I've just trying to see maybe if he needs to rest more, to be stronger,"
 Guidry said.

"我只是想看看阿宅是不是需要多休息一點,讓他能投得更好" Guidry如此說著.

Another part of the discussion was about aiming for more specific targets
with his pitches.

另一個結論是讓阿宅的控球能精準一點.

"That's what we see as his biggest problem," Guidry said, "not being
able to duplicate pitches.

"鄉民們，看到沒有?! 這就是他最大的問題阿!" Guidry說著. "不能再像前幾場
的投球內容一樣了!"

"You've got to throw it low over the plate, you've got to throw it up
and in over the plate, you've got to throw it low and in, up and away."

"控球就是要像這樣,讓球遊走在好球帶的邊緣.內角高、內角低、外角高、外角低

In Monday's loss, Igawa walked three in 4 1/3 innings, allowing seven
runs on eight hits. He has totaled just 20 2/3 innings in his four starts
but has thrown between 92 and 97 pitches each time out.

禮拜一的那場敗投,阿宅在 4 1/3局中保送了三人次，被尻了八支安打，失掉了
七分.阿宅到現在先發四次,一共只投了 20 2/3局,但每次先發的平均球數卻落在
92~97球之間.

Igawa was a strikeout pitcher in Japan, where he won or shared the
Central League strikeouts title three times in his eight seasons.
But his stuff -- a 90-mph fastball and looping slider -- does not
translate into swings and misses in the AL.

阿宅在日本其實是個三振型的投手,一共在他八年的職業生涯內,拿下了三座
中央聯盟三振王的殊榮.但他的滑球、與144公里上下的快速球並不能讓美聯
的打者們揮棒落空.

"He's at a disadvantage because he doesn't know any of these hitters
in the American League," Guidry said. "He's accustomed to pitching to
Japanese hitters. He knows what they'll swing at. These guys might not
swing at the same stuff.

"他根本就超吃虧的阿,他跟美聯的打者超不熟的阿" Guidry說著. "阿宅對日本
的打者已經投習慣了.他知道什麼球會讓NPB打者感興趣.不過美聯的怪物們就不同了
,同樣的球他們根本就不屌你."

"You've got to be more aware of where you want to put your pitches.
You can't just throw pitches over the strike zone. Because if he did
that over there, that's not going to work over here."

"阿宅必須對自己想投的位置更加注意些.不能夠一直丟在好球帶中.這在NPB管用
,但在MLB......會吃鱉的 囧rz!
