Yankees: The Yankees hope to send their ace, Wang, to the hill to open a three-game weekend series with the Mariners, but it will depend on his availability. Wang suffered a horizontally cracked fingernail on his right middle finger in his start Sunday against Boston and it affected his performance. So did his inability to keep the ball down early, as evidenced by David Ortiz's long home run to right on a pitch up in the zone. This would be the third start of 2007 for Wang, who tied for the AL lead in
victories last season with 19.
