Scouting Report:
Mariners: The left-hander has pitched at least six innings in all five of his
starts, surrendering two or fewer runs in four of the starts. After pitching
a complete-game shutout against the Athletics in his final April start,
Washburn started May by holding the White Sox to two runs -- on two solo
homers -- over seven innings. He's now surrendered just four homers this
season.
Yankees: The rotation is taking a beating this season, with Chien-Ming Wang,
Mike Mussina, Carl Pavano and Phil Hughes all having been slowed by injuries.
Because of the many rotation juggles, a starter hasn't been named for this
game. The Yankees could bring in Sean Henn from the bullpen -- he was
converted to a reliever this year -- or they may recall Darrell Rasner or
Matt DeSalvo from Triple-A.
