[新聞] Clemens agrees to re-sign with Yankees

In a moment that seemed scripted out of pro wrestling but might be just the
 thing to save the Yankees' season, Roger Clemens emerged from a back room into
 George Steinbrenner's box at the Stadium today moments after the
 seventh-inning stretch had ended and told the baseball world he was again
 donning pinstripes.

Public address announcer Bob Sheppard asked fans to direct their attention to
 the Boss' lair, where Clemens told the cheering throng that he had signed with
 the Yankees.

"How you doing, Yankee fans?" Clemens said into a microphone. After the
 applause died down, Clemens added, "You got me out of Texas. I can tell you
 all it's a privilege to be back. I'll be talking to you all soon."

Then he pumped his fist and was gone.

The Yanks, desperate for starting pitching in a season in which their rotation
 has been under siege of injuries, got the best pitcher available in Clemens,
 who has spent the last three seasons in Houston.

Clemens, 44, likely will need some time in the minors to get himself into shape
 to pitch, so it's not like he's starting Monday in place of Matt DeSalvo.
 However, he has changed the outlook of the Yankee rotation, which now will be
 headed by him, his buddy Andy Pettitte, who he followed to Houston three years
 ago, Chien-Ming Wang and Mike Mussina and possibly injured rookie phenom
 Phil Hughes.

Clemens, a seven-time Cy Young Award winner, was 7-6 with a 2.30 ERA for the
 Astros last season. He was 77-36 with a 3.99 ERA from 1999-2003 with the
 Yankees and won the 2001 AL Cy Young Award.
