SEATTLE - Bobby Abreu has been through slumps before, but his current drought
has reached a level that he has never seen in his 11-year career.

Abreu went 0-for-3 in yesterday's 2-1 Yankees loss, dropping him into a
2-for-22 skid that has his average down to .236 after 36 games.

也讓他三十六場比賽打擊率掉到 .236

"In the past, I was in slumps, but not like this," said Abreu, who has just
six extra-base hits this year. "This is the worst. I have to just keep
working and keep thinking positive."
阿布說"過去我也曾低潮 但不像這樣 這是最糟的 我必須要繼續努力 往好處想"

If Abreu was searching for a silver lining, he did manage to work a walk in
the fourth inning, snapping a streak of 61 straight plate appearances without
a base on balls, the longest of his career.

Abreu's career on-base percentage of .410 shows how patient he has been
throughout the past decade, but it currently stands at .312, a clear sign
that the slump has impacted his approach at the plate.

"Even when I've struggled, I would get on base with a walk or something and
we would score runs and win games," Abreu said. "When we're losing games, it
really bothers me a lot."

Joe Torre believes that the Yankees' 17-19 record has made it more difficult
for Abreu to find a groove, as he is trying to right himself and spark his
team at the same time.

"It's the pride factor and the responsibility factor; his biggest problem
right now in his mind is letting people down," Torre said. "I think he'd have
an easier time snapping out of this thing if we had been winning a lot more."

Torre tried dropping Abreu to the No. 7 spot in the order to keep him out of
the spotlight, then moved him up to the No.2 hole, inserting the red-hot
Derek Jeter behind him with the hope that it would get Abreu better pitches
to hit. Abreu is just 2-for-20 in the two-hole, and yesterday's walk was his
first in that spot.

"I'm going to take the day off and figure it out (tomorrow)," Torre said when
asked where Abreu would hit against the White Sox. "We see some good signs,
but he still doesn't look totally comfortable for me. He still isn't where we
want him to be."

Abreu just hopes he's still in the lineup somewhere. Having played in at
least 150 games in each season since 1998, Abreu likes being on the field
instead of in the dugout, even if some people believe a day off might be the
best thing for him.
阿布只希望還能夠留在打線裡 從1998年開始 每一季至少上場150場
阿布喜歡上場 不喜歡待在休息室 即使有人相信休息一天對他比較好

"I don't like days off," Abreu said. "It's a tough time for me, but I have to
just deal with it, keep fighting and never give up."
