來看看老克自己的說法。
Clemens Hits Potholes in Road Back to Majors
TRENTON, May 23 — Roger Clemens’s route back to the Yankees was a rocky one
Wednesday night. Pitching for the Trenton Thunder, the Yankees’ Class AA
affiliate, Clemens was rusty and wild in an appearance that did not suggest
he was immediately ready to jump to the major leagues.
Clemens walked the bases loaded in the first inning, hit a batter in the
sixth and gave up several hard-hit balls to the Portland Sea Dogs, an
affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. For most of the game, he was in and out of
trouble.
Clemens gave up three runs, six hits and four walks in five and a third
innings. He threw 102 pitches, 64 for strikes. He struck out five and
departed with the Sea Dogs leading, 3-2.
After the game, he would not say whether his next start would come in the
major leagues or whether he would have one more outing in the minors.
But the
fact that he threw 102 pitches might be an indication that his next
appearance would be in a Yankees uniform. He would be ready to pitch again
Monday, when the Yankees play the Blue Jays in Toronto.
“It will be something that the watchful eyes — and from what I understand,
there were a handful of watchful eyes here — will help decide,” Clemens
said when asked if he would make his next start for the Yankees. “All I can
tell them is how I felt. I’ll tell them how I feel tomorrow and will throw a
little more intense bullpen than I’d like to on Friday. And then we’ll go
from there.”
Yankees Manager Joe Torre seemed to leave the decision up to Clemens.
“I guess throwing 102 pitches, his legs must be under him,” Torre said
after the Yankees’ 8-3 victory over Boston at Yankee Stadium. “That’s
really what he’s been waiting for. If he feels he’s ready to come with us
and start pitching, we’re certainly ready to have him. But if he feels he’
ll be sharper staying down there one more time, I’m sure that’s what he’ll
do.”
Clemens said he was pleased by his performance.
“
Everything was positive,” he said. “
My health, my strength, everything
that I worked on was better. I’m working with a little bit different
baseball. The minor league baseball will do a little bit different things. I
need to control that and work on things I need to work on.”
Clemens’s self-appraisal included a contention that his wildness was not a
problem.
“
I did everything I wanted to do with the baseball pretty much,” he said. “
I threw all my pitches. The split reacted a little bit different than it
normally will, but that had to do with the differences between the major
league ball and the minor league ball.”
His friend and Yankees teammate Andy Pettitte was impressed with the
workload. “That’s a lot of pitches,” he said. “I can’t believe he threw
that many pitches in a game. Obviously that’s good.”
Clemens’s first inning was among his roughest. After retiring the first
hitter on a fly ball to center, he walked consecutive batters and threw a
wild pitch. After getting Jay Johnson to fly to center for the second out,
Clemens walked Andrew Pinckney to load the bases. He got out of the inning
when Bryan Pritz’s deep fly to left was hauled in by Justin Christian.
The Sea Dogs picked up their first hit in the second when Iggy Suarez, the
No. 9 hitter, hit a two-out triple down the left-field line. Suarez entered
the game hitting .207. Clemens again escaped when he got Jeff Corsaletti to
line out to third.
Clemens threw 85 pitches through five innings and, in what was somewhat of a
surprise, came out to start the sixth. It was his worst inning. He gave up
consecutive singles, hit John Otness and walked Suarez to force in a run.
After the walk, he came out.
It was Clemens’s second start in the minors since signing with the Yankees.
He pitched four innings for Class A Tampa last week and allowed one run and
three hits.
Clemens received a warm ovation from the record capacity crowd of 9,134 at
Waterfront Park. The largest crowd to attend a Thunder game had been the
8,729 who showed up in 2003 when Derek Jeter played for Trenton in a rehab
appearance.

結論:老克對本場比賽的內容並不在意,重點是他的身體及該做的功課是不是有做好。
就他的說法來看,他對自己的進度十分滿意。
明天或後天我們應該就會知道他到底會在什麼時候回到大聯盟。
