Chien-Ming Wang's first pitch yesterday was in the dirt and caused Angels
leadoff hitter Reggie Willits to do a little dance to avoid being hit. Four
pitches later, Willits was on base with a free pass, and Wang's first-inning
nightmare was underway.

After an out, the heart of the Angels' order - the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 batters -
all reached base, highlighted by cleanup hitter Gary Matthews Jr.'s two-run
triple to left-center. Casey Kotchman (3-for-3 with a walk and a RBI) added
an RBI single before Wang got out of the inning.

The three-run cushion was all Angels starter Kelvim Escobar (6-2) would need
to beat the Yanks yesterday. As for Wang, the Yankee ace ended up working
seven scoreless innings after that first-inning hiccup, yet only had an "L"
to show for it.
昨天這三分已經夠讓天使的先發投手Kelvim Escobar (6勝-2負) 打敗洋基

"He's got some good stuff. Everybody talks about his good sinker, but he's
got a pretty good changeup too," said Matthews Jr., who was 1-for-4 with two
RBI and a run scored. "It's a tough day when you go eight innings and get the
loss. We were just trying to take advantage of the opportunities you get."

Added Angels catcher Jose Molina, who doubled to start the second: "The first
two innings, (Wang) was leaving the ball up and we were happy to hit them.
But after that, he was amazing."

Wang, whose record dropped to 3-4, said his control was off the first inning,
with his pitches "high and down the middle." He said pitching coach Ron Guidry
 and catcher Jorge Posada told him to keep his arm up to better locate his
spots.
小王現在戰績掉到3勝4敗 他表示第一局控球不穩 有點高掉到中間

"He really made some adjustments after the first and second inning," Posada
said. "Early on, he was out of the zone and throwing a lot of strikes up in
the zone. I kept telling him to keep it low."

After Molina's double in the second, Wang walked Willits on five pitches and
then intentionally walked DH Vladimir Guerrero to load the bases with two
outs. Matthews Jr. lined out to center to end the threat.
第二局在Molina的二壘安打之後 小王用五球保送了Willits

Wang retired eight in a row after Kotchman's leadoff double in the third and
did not allow a baserunner in his last three innings. The righty surrendered
six hits, walked four and whiffed six in a 109-pitch outing.

"I thought (Wang) got the ball down better later," said Angels substitute
manager Ron Roenicke, who is filling in for two games while Mike Scioscia is
in California for his son's high school graduation. "If he's spotting it,
there's really nothing you can do."

如果他球控在那樣的位置 實在也沒辦法能做什麼"
