Yankees’ Offense Goes Flat Against Angels
洋基鳥打陣線在小天使面前嚥下最後一口氣

Chien-Ming Wang is one of the most dependable pitchers on the Yankees,
generally known for good control of a sinking fastball. He usually works many
innings, walks few batters and gets many of them to beat the ball into the
ground for infield outs.

以優秀的伸卡球控球聞名大聯盟的王建民是洋基隊最可靠的投手，他總是能投很多局，讓

Most of this remained true today at Yankee Stadium, but Wang was out of
character just long enough early to allow the Los Angeles Angels to win, 3-1,
the second Angels victory in two games between the teams, who close out their
series tomorrow afternoon.

Wang (3-4) walked the first-inning leadoff hitter, Reggie Willits, and

Missing from the starting lineup for the Yankees was Johnny Damon, their
regular centerfielder and leadoff hitter, who left Friday night’s game for a
pinch-hitter in the seventh inning with sore calves in both legs and also
pain in his right Achilles’.

洋基隊的先發中外野手，第一棒大門，昨晚的比賽在第七局代打時，感到雙腳小腿的痠痛

In the ninth inning with two outs and nobody on base, Damon pinch-hit for
Mientkiewicz against closer Francisco Rodriguez and singled to right-center.
Melky Cabrera replaced Damon in center field and batted ninth.

He followed Damon to the plate in the ninth and was safe on an infield hit

Abreu, the slumping right fielder, batted in the leadoff position and
followed Cabrera to the plate with men on first and third.

umpire. Abreu had one hit in five at-bats.

Even Yankees Manager Joe Torre, who rarely complains about umpires, disputed
the call afterward in his office. “It was in the opposite batter’s box,”
 he said. “You would at least like to determine your own fate.”

甚至連總教練托瑞，很少跟裁判抱怨的，賽後也在他的辦公室臭幹豬神一番。那球都已經
跑到右打者的打擊區裡了，他怒道 。鄉民都貼出來了，把你的傑作抓回去當桌面吧!!!

Torre also complained that the umpire “had the nerve to argue with Abreu”
 after the call. “I’m not one to harp on umpires,” Torre said, “but this
one got me.”

托瑞爆料，這位令人畏懼的豬神做了那個笑死人的判決之後，居然還不要臉的跟阿不吵了
起來。無言...我不想多說什麼了，老托說，居然讓我又ㄧ整個火大※＃℅○◇!!!!!

Damon and Manager Joe Torre discussed putting Damon on the disabled list, but
Damon said he would not need 15 days to recover from pain that has plagued
him, off and on, all season.

大門曾與老托討論是否要進15天的傷兵名單，但大門說他不需要用到15天才能讓他的傷勢
復原，儘管這傷已經困擾了他整個球季(包括季前休賽期)。

“I told them not even 10,” Damon said of the days needed to recover, then
quickly added that he might not even need five days. The problem has
occasionally forced Damon out of his fielding role for use solely as a
designated hitter.

average coming into this season.

Also on Friday, Damon had difficulty reaching fly balls over his head. And on
one hit in front of him, Damon ran in for the catch but the ball bounced off
his glove. Torre said Damon will get whirlpool and massage therapy and Damon
said he was told to keep to keep his legs elevated when resting, even during
games.

Turning more serious, Damon discussed his reputation for aggressive play and

After finishing with the Angels, the Yankees go next to Toronto for three
games, beginning on Monday night. In that the Jays’ field has artificial
turf and such a surface is sometimes difficult on the legs of athletes, Torre
was asked whether this would be a factor in playing Damon.

結束與天使的系列賽，洋基將前往多倫多，與藍鳥進行從週一晚上開始的三連戰。藍鳥的
球場使用人工草皮，較硬的場地對腿受傷球員來說比較危險且難以應付。瑞被被問到，這
項因素是否會影響到大門的出賽。

“He said it doesn’t seem to matter,” Torre said, referring to the reaction
of Damon’s legs to different surfaces.
