For Now, Yanks Keep Their Focus on Future

The more the Yankees struggle, the less likely it is that they will make a
significant addition before the trading deadline. General Manager Brian
Cashman is leery of sacrificing the future to improve a talented team that
has not proved it can perform to its ability.

“Last year’s team earned the right to get reinforcements,” Cashman said

Manager Joe Torre said he understood the importance of protecting long-term
assets, even though he is in the last year of his contract and probably needs

Rami'rez, whose changeup made him a strikeout specialist in the minors, could
help a bullpen that ranks first in the majors in walks and 25th in strikeouts.

Rami'rez has refined his fastball and slider and sharpened his command since
the Yankees signed him last season from an independent league team. But the

A T-SHIRT DISCUSSION Brian Cashman said he spoke with Alex and Cynthia
Rodriguez about the front-page photograph in yesterday’s New York Post in
which Cynthia was pictured wearing a T-shirt with an obscene message on the
back in the stands at Yankee Stadium.

but Cynthia’s hair apparently covered the message from most angles. Alex

A-Rod說他對那張照片沒有任何回應.
