ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Former Yankee Kenny Lofton said yesterday that Gary
Sheffield was right when he accused the Yankees of treating black players
differently than white ones.

前洋基球員Keny Lofton昨天對雨刷叔指控洋基對待黑人球員不同於白人球員
的言論表示贊同

Sheffield told an HBO interviewer that blacks had issues with the
organization during the three years he was on the team, particularly with
manager Joe Torre.

雨刷叔告訴HBO的採訪員,他在洋基打球的三年期間,黑人跟整個球團組織是有問題的
特別是跟Torre

According to Sheffield, blacks were "called out" in the clubhouse while white
players were called into Torre's office. He cited Lofton and Womack as
examples.

根據雨刷表示,當白人球員有問題時通常會被個別叫進辦公室談
而黑人球員則是被當眾點名指責
他舉了Lofton跟Womack為例子

"All I can say is, Sheffield knows what he's talking about. That's all I'm
going to say," Lofton told an Associated Press reporter in Texas. He now
plays for the Rangers.

Lofton played 83 games for the Yankees in 2004, hitting .275 with 18 RBI.
Womack hit .249 for the Yankees in 2005 and was traded to Cincinnati
following the season. He is now out of baseball.

Womack在2005年在洋基的打擊率為2成49,然後在2006年被交易到了紅人隊

Torre refused comment on Sheffield's charges on Friday.

(706) had caught more innings than Posada (647). But Posada has played in 84
games, two more than Martin and five more than Kendall.

The grind certainly hasn't hurt him offensively. Posada is hitting .330 with
10 home runs and 50 RBI. He has yet to go more than seven straight at-bats
without a hit.

But with as often as he plays, there is a concern Posada will wear down.

"We'll obviously look at it," Torre said.

Torre said backup catcher Wil Nieves would start this afternoon. But Posada
will probably pinch hit and play a few innings. He hasn't had a full day off

Nieves is such a poor hitter (6 of 50 with no extra-base hits) that Posada is
needed in close games.

"That's the downside of having a catcher who's struggling offensively," Torre
said. "You wind up using Jorge when you don't really want to."

Extra bases: Torre went to the bullpen before the game to watch Kei Igawa,
who is scheduled to start against Toronto tomorrow at Yankee Stadium. Igawa
is 2-2 with a 7.14 ERA but the Yankees still hope to make something of him.
"I'm looking forward to watching him pitch," Torre said. "His location was
excellent and he was putting all his pitches where he wanted to put them."
... Double-A right-hander Joba Chamberlain continued to impress, throwing
seven scoreless innings and striking out nine with one walk against New
Hampshire. He is 4-1 with a 2.08 ERA for Trenton. ... Derek Jeter has one of
the new iPhones. ... University of Florida football coach Urban Meyer was at
the game and watched the Yankees take batting practice from behind the cage.

Torre在比賽開始前去看了阿宅,阿宅表定明天在洋基主場對上藍鳥
雖然阿宅目前2勝2敗,自責分率7.14,但是洋基仍然對他寄予一些希望
Torre說"我期待看他投球,他的進球點非常棒,而且他的控球隨心所欲(按:希望
明天也是阿...)

2A的右投 張伯倫 繼續讓人驚奇, 在對Hampshire(按:N. Hampshire Fisher Cats)
的球賽裡面投了七局無失分, 九次三振,一保送.
目前在2A的戰績4勝一敗,自責分2.08
