July 17, 2007 -- Joe Torre revealed yesterday afternoon that Kyle Farnsworth
still has his eighth-inning job - not that the struggling Yankees reliever
was worried about it.

其實自己也不擔心這事。

"I'm not concerned about anything," Farnsworth said before last night's 6-4
victory over the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium.

「我沒什麼好擔心的」老方在昨晚洋基6-4的勝利後說道。

Torre had said he would stay away from Farnsworth last night after using him
on Saturday and Sunday and watching him surrender runs both times, and the
manager stuck to his word, bringing Luis Vizcaino into the game to pitch the
eighth inning.

Torre已經說過他不會讓老方在昨晚(16日)上場，因為他六、日已經接連上場而且兩次皆
失分了。而他也的確說到作到，昨晚是由Vizcaino上場投第八局。

Farnsworth, who has allowed 13 hits and five runs in his last 10 appearances
(nine innings), denied that he is in a rut. He responded to inquiries about
his rough stretch with the classic: "Have you ever pitched out there before?"

老方在最近十次出賽共九局的投球中，被打出13支安打並失了5分。不過老方否認自己陷
入了低潮(?)，當記者問到他最近低迷的表現時，他用了大絕：「你有上去投過嗎？」

If patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel, then the "you never played
the game" retort is the last refuge of the ill-tempered, struggling athlete.

如果說愛國主義是壞蛋最後的歸宿的話(譯註：Samuel Johnson)，那「你沒上場過」就是
脾氣壞、表現差運動員的歸宿了。

Asked about mounting speculation that he might lose his eighth-inning role,
Farnsworth answered: "Who says that? That's exactly what it is: speculation."

當被問到最近愈來愈多人揣測他會失去投第八局角色的工作時，老方回答：「是誰說的？
那些不過都是揣測罷了！」
A little while later, Torre acknowledged he would stick with his setup man a
while longer.
"Yeah, he's still our eighth-inning guy," Torre said.

不久之後，Torre表示他會仍會繼續讓老方當中繼，至少再一陣子。
「是的，他還是我們的八局男」Torre說道。

Farnsworth has allowed 21 runs (19 earned) over 37 1/3 innings for a 4.58
ERA. Only Vizcaino's 4.63 ERA is worse among Yankees relievers. Vizcaino has
surrendered 42 hits and 18 walks over his 41 appearances.

老方本季至今37又1/3局，失21分，19自責分，防禦率4.58。洋基後援投手中，只有
Vizcaino的4.63比他還高。Vizcaino在41次出賽中被打42安、18次保送。

Vizcaino, though, is moving in the opposite direction of Farnsworth. He
pitched an excellent eighth, only needing seven pitches to retire the top of
the Toronto order.
"This was a helluva test for him; not that we planned it," Torre said.

但Vizcaino卻是往老方相反的方向前進著，昨晚他第八局表現精采，只需要7球便把多倫
多的中心打線解決掉。
「雖然我們並沒這麼計劃，但這對他是個很了不得的考驗」Torre 說道。

Torre said no decision has been made on a second starter for Saturday's
doubleheader, although he indicated Matt DeSalvo and Tyler Clippard appeared
to be the main candidates and the front office would make the decision. As
for the order of the pitchers in the twinbill (Kei Igawa, last night's
starter, is in line for one of the starts), Torre said he hadn't gotten that
far.

Torre表示周六雙重賽的第二個先發目前仍未決定，但暗示DeSalvo和Clippard會是可能人
選，教練團會再作出決定。至於兩場先發的順序(阿宅是當天的輪值)，Torre表示他還沒
想這麼遠。

With a roster move imminent, Torre said he'd like to see righty reliever
Edwar Ramirez this week.

因為選手名單又即將變動(?)，Torre表示他希望會讓Edwar Ramirez在本周上場
