Mussina gets back on track by pitching into sixth inning

KANSAS CITY -- Alex Rodriguez hit career home run No. 499, and Melky
Cabrera and Hideki Matsui also homered as the Yankees won their sixth
straight game Wednesday, defeating the Royals on Wednesday at Kauffman
Stadium, 7-1.
星期三在Kauffman Stadium, A-Rod擊出生涯第499號全壘打，卡布和馬祖以也各
轟一發，洋基以7-1贏了皇家，拿到6連勝。

Rodriguez's blast, his Major League-leading 35th, came in the eighth
inning off Kansas City starter Gil Meche, a two-run shot to right-center
that gave the Yankees a three-run lead at the time. Matsui immediately
followed with a solo home run, his 18th, off reliever Jimmy Gobble.
A-Rod在第8局從Meche手中敲出領先全聯盟的第35號全壘打，這隻飛出中右外野的

The run support backed New York starter Mike Mussina, who broke a string
of three starts without a win, logging a victory for the first time since
June 29 vs. Oakland. The right-hander limited the Royals to one run and
six hits over 5 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out four.

Cabrera had three RBIs and got the Yankees started in the second inning,
slugging a two-run homer -- his fifth long ball of the season -- off Meche
to open the scoring. Cabrera also added a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning
off Meche, who allowed five runs and nine hits in 7 1/3 innings, walking
one and striking out one.

his second double of the game up the alley in right-center field. Reggie
Sanders followed with a run-scoring single to left past a diving A-Rod,
the final pitch Mussina would throw in a 95-pitch outing as Ron Villone
came on to record the final out of the inning.

the current leaders in the American League Wild Card chase.
