Yankees pay tribute to Fame inductee Ripken

洋基們週末待的這個地方 瀰漫著慶祝小瑞普肯進入名人堂的氛圍裡

BALTIMORE - The Yankees are spending the weekend in Cal Ripken Jr.'s town.
Baltimore is always his town, but with Ripken to be inducted into the
Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown today, this weekend is all about him
here.

Alex Rodriguez, a shortstop until he came to the Yankees, has long said
Ripken was one of the players he most loved to watch while growing up. Derek
Jeter said Ripken was among a few shortstops he closely watched. And Hideki
Matsui, who had the second-longest consecutive-games-played streak in
Japanese history and played in 1,768 straight games in Japan and the major
leagues before fracturing his left wrist last season, has much admiration for
Ripken's streak of 2,632 consecutive games played.

吉特又再補充說：他的出賽紀錄金厲害　不過不管是不是這樣　他照樣進名人堂

Said Jeter: "His career gets overshadowed a lot by his streak, but he'd be in
the Hall of Fame regardless of whether he had the streak or not."

鐵人瑞普肯當選１９次明星賽 ２次美聯最有價值球員 2成76打擊率 431轟 3184安 1695點

Ripken was a 19-time All-Star and two-time American League Most Valuable
Player. He batted .276 with 431 home runs, 3,184 hits and 1,695 RBIs.

洋基板凳教練Don Mattingly說：要連續出賽真的不容易 一切都是因為愛 愛呀~

Yankees bench coach Don Mattingly said he considers it appropriate that so
much of the talk about Ripken focuses on the streak. "I think it kind of
defines him," he said, "because that's an amazing thing. I don't think people
realize how hard that is to do. I'm sure there were a lot of times that he
was banged up, really banged up, and he went out there because he just loves
to play."

Ripken Jr.大聯盟21年球季皆待在金鶯，是2632場連續出賽與連續19年入選明星賽
都是史上最高，除此之外還有1983與1991年美聯MVP、1982年美聯年度最佳新人、
2屆游擊手金手套、8屆游擊手銀棒獎。生涯打擊率2成76、3184支安打、431支全壘打
、1695分打點。今年名人堂票選，Ripken Jr.拿下537票
