DETROIT, Aug. 25 — Before he shut off his cellphone on Saturday morning, Joe
Torre took one last call as he wearily returned to the Yankees’ suburban
hotel around 4:30 a.m. It was Brian Cashman, the general manager, asking
Torre if he needed a fresh pitcher for Saturday.

星期六凌晨4:30左右,疲憊的托瑞回到了球隊在郊區的旅館
在他的手機關機前,接了最後一通現金人的電話.現金人問他禮拜六是否會需要一個
生猛活跳的新投手.

Torre, the manager, told him no thanks. He already had one well-rested
pitcher sleeping soundly at the hotel. It turned out that was almost all he
would need.

托瑞說"不,謝了"他已經有一個 -- 正在旅館裡面呼呼大睡充分休息.
後來也證明了這正是他最需要的.

The Yankees recovered from an exhausting defeat to push aside the Detroit
Tigers, 7-2, behind eight strong innings from Chien-Ming Wang. As his
teammates slogged through a loss that ended at 3:30 a.m. and followed a
241-minute rain delay, Wang was resting back at the hotel.

洋基從上一場疲憊的敗戰中恢復,並且在王建民強力8局中給予支援,以7-2贏了老虎.

He had left Comerica Park after five innings, at Torre’s urging, and got
eight hours of sleep. When he returned for the Saturday night game, Wang
allowed five hits and an earned run in eight innings, shaking off a minislump
to improve to 15-6.

他在那場第5局之後,在托瑞的敦促下離開Comerica Park球場回到旅館,
並且好生休息了8個小時.當他在星期6晚上再度回到球場時,8局裡
只讓對方打出5安打,並讓對方多賺一分而已. 甩開小低潮,
讓本季成績提升到15勝6敗
