The Yankees' lineup for the first two games of the American League
Division Series produced a paltry four runs and eight hits in 20
innings.

Expect to see some changes in that lineup for tonight's do-or-die
Game 3.

"We'll look and see what we're going to do," manager Joe Torre said.
"We'll look at matchups and stuff, but we'll probably shake it up a
little bit."

Torre hinted that Jason Giambi, who has only one pinch-hit at-bat in
the series so far, could start tonight, either at first base or as
the designated hitter.

"I'm just thinking about getting his bat in there and the fact of
what he brings to the table," Torre said of Giambi, who has a .326
average in 27 career Division Series games. "Just because he hasn't

The Yankees need any kind of offensive boost they can get. The team
average is .121 in the first two games of the playoffs, something
the Yankees hope to change against Cleveland starter Jake Westbrook
tonight.

The numbers are promising: the right-hander and one-time Yankee,
Westbrook is 1-4 with a 7.50 ERA in seven appearances (five starts)

In a further effort to shake the Yankees out of their hitting slump,
the team canceled yesterday's workout and batting practice.

we'll come back here tomorrow and have a little fun with it."

and in his opinion the rest of his team shouldn't have had to play

Umpire crew chief Bruce Froemming said after the game he never
considered stopping the game, and Clemens did not elaborate or
clarify who -- the team, umpires, or Torre -- should have made

With all hands on deck tonight, Torre said he could not name a Game 4
starter until after Game 3.

Torre said. "And then we'll work on Game 4... we have to make sure we
have everybody available (today)."

Everybody except, of course, Game 1 starter Chien-Ming Wang, who threw
a bullpen at Yankee Stadium yesterday and could start Game 4 on short
rest, especially if Mike Mussina or Phil Hughes is used tonight in
relief of Clemens.

Andy Pettitte, who pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings in Game 2 on Friday,
said he hadn't been told anything about preparing for a Game 5 start,
though he would be the primary candidate for that spot.

"We hadn't talked about that," Pettitte said. "I told them I'd pitch

Paul Byrd is still set to start a Game 4 for the Indians. Indians
manager Eric Wedge said he would not pitch consider pitching the
Indians' ace C.C. Sabathia, who allowed three runs in five innings
in Game 1, on short rest for a Game 4.
