1. 雙城和魟魚隊昨天的交易, 並不如推測地降低Santana交易的機會, 反而增加了洋基在
這場爭奪戰中站穩有利的位置。大都會則可能必須尋找另一個替代的人選。
2. 雙城用右投手Matt Garza換來了魟魚隊的Delmon Young。另外也用後援投手Juan
Rincon及游擊手Jason Jason Bartlett交換魟魚的游擊手Brendon Harris及小聯盟的
外野手Jason Pridie。一位雙城不願具名的官方人員表示, 雙城隊仍然需要一位中外
野手也彌補Torii Hunter留下的空缺, 因為他們認為Pridie還不算是ready的中外野
手, 因此不準備讓他接替此一位置, 而想透過交易得到一位CF, 洋基隊似乎比較符合
雙城的要求, 因為洋基提供的投手深度比較足夠。例如: Phil Hughes比較能抵銷雙

The Minnesota Twins made a trade yesterday, and while it wasn't yet the one
for ace Johan Santana, the deal might have strengthened the Yankees' position
in the race for the left-hander.
Meanwhile, the Mets might have to look for a pitcher other than Santana
because of the extension he seeks in exchange for approving a trade.
Minnesota's six-player swap with the Yankees' divisional rival Tampa Bay
netted the Twins outfielder Delmon Young for right-hander Matt Garza. The
Rays also got reliever Juan Rincon and shortstop Jason Bartlett in exchange
for shortstop Brendon Harris and minor-league outfielder Jason Pridie.
According to an official with one of the teams involved who asked not to be
named because he is not authorized to speak for the organization, Minnesota
felt its talent was heavier on pitching and this trade helps rectify that
imbalance.
So while the Twins still would like a center fielder in exchange for Santana
-- Pridie plays center but isn't considered ready to fill the vacancy left by
Torii Hunter's departure -- the person said they probably prefer other
players in the deal to be pitchers. That would seem to suit the Yankees fine,
because they are deepest in pitching.
Phil Hughes, for example, could help the Twins offset the loss of Garza.
A Yankees official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he is not
directly involved in talks, said the team feels it can get Santana without
giving up pitcher Joba Chamberlain or second baseman Robinson Cano.
A person connected with the Santana talks, who declined to be identified
because he is not authorized to speak for the decision-makers, said the Mets
were not likely to be a serious suitor for Santana. Not only do the Mets lag
behind other contenders in the quality of the pitching prospects they have to
offer, but the person said he was told that Mets ownership would not
authorize a contract of more than five years for any pitcher -- even Santana.
When Santana, a two-time Cy Young Award winner who is eligible for free
agency a year from now, rejected Minnesota's offer of a contract extension,
he made it known he sought a contract through 2014.
The Mets, the person said, appear much more interested in making a deal with
the Oakland A's, for either Dan Haren or Joe Blanton, and in signing a
free-agent starting pitcher such as Livan Hernandez or Carlos Silva.
