New York Yankees top prospect Jesus Montero had to be helped off
of the field this afternoon after taking a foul ball to the groin
region. I saw the trainers working with him on the field and I
freaked out a little bit, but I’m hoping he was just in
excruciating pain as opposed to seriously injured. As many of us
unfortunately know, a blow to that area is one of the worst
feelings to experience. I’m sure he was wearing a cup, but the
cup doesn’t prevent the pain. Chances are he was simply in no
shape to continue playing this afternoon, but you might remember
Adrian Beltre suffered a pretty serious injury a couple of years
ago when he was with the Seattle Mariners. I’m not sure Beltre
was wearing his cup though. Anyway, Montero will probably be okay
but we should keep our fingers crossed until we’re sure.
