NEW YORK -- One day after asking to be removed from the Yankees' lineup,
Jorge Posada knocked on his manager's door and apologized for creating a
throwback Bronx firestorm.
Posada said that the simmering frustration of his slow start boiled over into
his actions, leading him to tug a hooded sweatshirt over his uniform and
watch Saturday's game against the Red Sox from the bench.
"I kind of apologized to him," Posada said of skipper Joe Girardi. "I just
had a bad day yesterday. In reflecting on it and stuff, all the frustration
came out. I'm just trying to move on. I appreciate him letting me do that."
