It has been a big year for major milestones at Yankee Stadium. On July 9,
Derek Jeter became the first player to reach the 3,000-hit mark as a Yankee,
and on Monday, Mariano Rivera became Major League Baseball's all-time saves
leader with 602.
"What we've been able to see so far this year with 3,000 hits and what Mo has
done, it's pretty good," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said after Rivera's
record-setting save.
Ranking those achievements among others on Major League Baseball's winningest
team means there is some heady competition.
Babe Ruth became the "Sultan of Swat" by hitting 714 home runs, all but 55 of
them for the Bronx Bombers. His longtime follower in the batting order, Lou
Gehrig, was known as "Iron Horse" for playing in 2,130 consecutive games, a
record that lasted for 56 years until Cal Ripken Jr. surpassed it in 1995.
Fifty-six: It was 70 years ago when Joe DiMaggio hit safely in 56 consecutive
games, another astonishing record that still stands.
The list goes on, but those numbers are the stuff of legends, and they have
more company in 2011.

話說我也投了DiMaggio一票
畢竟這個紀錄不單純只在洋基 放到MLB都被票選為最不可能破的一個
壓倒性的得到球迷認可 算是實至名歸
