Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com reports that Robinson Cano has changed agents, hiring Scott Boras to replace his former representative, Bobby Barad. Cano and Boras reportedly had a meeting in the Dominican Republic, after which the All-Star second baseman made the switch. Boras represents a ton of big-name clients, but what’s interesting about the timing of Cano’s move is that he’s nowhere near free agency. He’ll earn $10 million this season as part of a four-year, $30 million deal signed in February of 2008 and then the Yankees hold team options for $14 million in 2012 and $15 million in 2015. Cano is coming off his best season and a third place MVP finish, so perhaps he's looking to ink a massive long-term extension, but there’s really no sense of urgency from the Yankees’ point of view, as they control him through his age-30 season already.
