    Nick Swisher去年在芝加哥的South Side度過了一個不值得他記起的球季。
    但是這位現在洋基隊的外野手再來會有很多的時間會瞭解，不可以提及白襪總教練
Ozzie Guillen，即使是一點點關聯性都會是個禁忌。因為Guillen總是會嘴砲回射補上關
鍵的一句話。

　　週日紐約郵報對Swisher專訪的問答內容就引起了Guillen的注意。在一段對話中，
Swisher被問及關於他的新隊友和新的總教練Joe Girardi的看法。Swisher回答道:
“不會再想為其他總教練打球了，他就是有些不錯的特質。他讓所有球員可以團結在一起
，是我打過球隊中最好的總教練。”

    不僅如此，去年球季游擊手Orlando Cabrera稱天使隊的總教練是他打過球隊中最聰
明的總教練，這樣的話其實也波及到Guillen身上，但是Guillen無法理解Swisher才穿上
條紋衣就可以講出像這樣的話，就像Guillen所說的: “(球季開打)才一週或兩週”。
Guillen表示:

“去年4月20日我也聽到(他)對我作同樣的評價，他不過是見人說人話見鬼說鬼話。他說
的是他只認識兩週的人，對於認識才兩週的人根本是很難對他為人作評論的，但Nick卻可
以。”

    “我不是想自稱自己是最好的總教練。當然我從來也不是。但是我當總教練的時候他
還在穿開擋褲呢(我當總教練的時間還比他打球的時間還久)，我能作的回應就是這樣。我
在球界交的朋友比敵人還多。有些人是沒辦法適應我當總教練管理的方式。當總教練不是
件容易的事，當總教練你必須每年應付25到50位球員，要讓每個人都高興，那是辦不到的
事。”

    “但比較容易的是當個球員如果你有.350或.390的打擊率，那不管是阿貓阿狗對你
都會是好的總教練。去批評別人是比較容易的。”

    2008年球季之前Swisher從運動家隊來到了白襪隊，這一年他打得不好，在最後幾個
月失掉了先發位置，而他不爽的情緒也變成了注目的焦點。2008年冬天他便被交易到了洋
基隊。Guillen表示:

　　“我希望Girardi(最好)是比我還棒的總教練，因為他管理可是紐約洋基隊。他管理
的是世上最大的幾個運動球隊之一。我希望(Swisher)能夠適應他。他在這裡相處不來，
但是好像人只要換個球隊，就會找到一個比較好的總教練。” (我覺得他該補個科科吧!)

   “我從來沒說我是個好的總教練。但是我是不是可以跟我隊上所有的球員相處呢? 可
以。跟一些人相處得比其他人還好? 沒錯。我不是來到這裡讓一些人銘記於心的，而是希
望是能作好總教練的事。突然間一瞬間，他和球隊每個都混熟了。我讀到了那篇報導，我
只是科科地笑著。你只和他們相處了一兩週，然後就說每個人都很nice, 絕對不會有什麼
誤會的?”

   “那就是棒球比賽的一部份。事情的情況就是如此，Swisher的處事態度就是如此。事
情的結果對他好，每個人都棒極了。但是事情不順他的意，那一定是別人有問題。”

後記: 這件事讓人想起一些往事

　　還記得Gary Sheffield到老虎隊後對Joe Torre發表的言論嗎? 對Jim Leyland的評論
是 “他是個很真誠的人, 對球員有賞有罰, 兩樣都有”。但Joe Torre不僅是個喜歡在媒
體前批評非裔美籍的黑人，甚至從一開始就反對讓他入隊。Guillen的話還真的有點道理
呢。“人一換了球隊，總會找到比較好的總教練。”不知Sheffied現在怎麼想呢?
　
　　Guillen的嘴挺賤其實是很名的：以下是三個案例

1. 2005年5月4日賽前，白襪隊26場比賽先發投手累積的總成績是14勝3敗ERA 2.82，有17
場優質先發傲視全大聯盟，被問起和其他球隊的先發輪值的比較時，記者問道和洋基先發
投手比起來呢? 他表示: “他們沒得比啦，他們的先發輪值排最後一名。"

2. 2005年在提過洋基先發沒得比的兩週後，和白襪的隨隊記者提起他以前帶過的隊員從
白襪隊跳槽到老虎隊的Magglio Ordonez時，他提到Ordonez時表示:

“He’s a piece of [bleep]. He’s a [bleep], that’s what he is. He’s
another Venezuelan [bleep]. [Bleep] him. He has an enemy. Now he has a big
one. He knows I can [bleep] him a lot of different ways. He better shut the
[bleep] up and play for the Detroit Tigers.” (這消音這麼多次的還是別翻了，不

3. 2007年6月6日白襪在主場被王建民壓制九局5-1輸球後，白襪全場只打出五支一壘安打
後，賽後Guillen在媒體問題問到場上球員的表現時，他表示是九個僵屍(Nine dead
people walking)。

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Nick Swisher spent one forgettable season on the
South Side.

But that should have been plenty of time for the New York Yankees outfielder
to figure out that taking any sort of slap at White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen
— as small as it may be — is a no-no. Because Guillen always will get in
the last word.

A Q&A with Swisher that ran in the New York Post was brought to Guillen’s
attention Sunday. In one segment, Swisher was asked about his new teammates
and his new manager, Joe Girardi.

‘‘Never want to play for anybody else,’’ Swisher said. ‘‘There’s just
something about him, man. He brings everybody together. Best manager I ever
played for.’’

Not only did that have a similar ring to shortstop Orlando Cabrera taking a
shot at Guillen last season, when he called the Angels’ Mike Scioscia the
smartest manager he ever played for, but Guillen couldn’t figure out how
Swisher could make a statement like that after wearing the pinstripes for, as
Guillen described it, ‘‘one week, two weeks.’’

‘‘I heard the same [stuff] on April 20 [last year] about me,’’ Guillen
said. ‘‘He’s got to say what he’s got to say. He was talking about people
he’s only known for two weeks. That’s hard to make that statement when you
only know people for two weeks, but that’s Nick.

‘‘I’m not pretending to be the best manager. I never will. But I guarantee
that I will manage a lot longer than he will play. That’s all I can say. And
I’ve got more friends in baseball than I have enemies. Some people can’t
handle the way I manage. It’s not easy. When you manage, you have to deal
with 25 to 50 people every year. To make [all of those] people happy, you can
’t.

‘‘But it’s easy when you hit .350 or .390. Everybody is a good manager. It
’s easy to blame people.’’

Acquired from Oakland before the 2008 season, Swisher had a rough year with
the Sox, losing his starting job in the final few months and becoming
noticeably pouty. He was traded to the Yankees over the winter.

‘‘I hope Girardi is a better manager than me because he manages the New
York Yankees,’’ Guillen said. ‘‘He manages one of the biggest sports
teams on the earth. I hope [Swisher] gets along with him. Things didn’t work
out here for him, but it seems that when somebody leaves this ballclub, they
find a better manager.

‘‘I never said I was a good manager. But do I get along with all my
players? Yes. Some better than others? Yes. I didn’t come here to impress
anyone, and I hope I do a good job. All of a sudden, he knows everyone on the
ballclub. I was reading the article, and I just laughed. You only got one
week, two weeks on the team, and everyone is nice?

‘‘That’s part of the game. That’s the way it is. That’s the way Swisher
is. Things work out for him good, everyone is great. That [stuff] doesn’t
work out for him, it’s someone’s fault.’’
