Yankees first baseman only has tendinitis in left wrist

KANSAS CITY -- Mark Teixeira celebrated his 29th birthday as a game-time scratch
from the Yankees' lineup, but he expects to be back in the lineup on Sunday, a
little older but with less discomfort.
鐵爺在生日這天沒被排上打線，但是他預計會在明天對皇家的第三戰上場，雖然變老了點
但不舒服的感覺減輕了。


Teixeira was examined by a Royals team physician on Saturday after complaining
of soreness in his left wrist, which hinders his ability to bat right-handed.
The examination turned up only tendinitis, good news for the slugger.
鐵爺的左手腕在經過皇家隊醫的檢查後，這只是肌腱炎而已，會影響到他用右手打擊，不
過這是個好消息

"Hopefully, it feels better with a day of rest today and tonight," Teixeira said
."It's sore, but everything checked out fine."
鐵爺說在經過一天的休息後他覺得好多了，雖然還是會痛，不過一切檢查的結果都很好。

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that he is expecting to play Teixeira on Sunday
at Kauffman Stadium. New York will face right-hander Gil Meche, thus allowing
Teixeira to bat left-handed, and he is considered day-to-day.
阿吉說他會在這戰把鐵爺放進打線，因為這場皇家的投手Gil Meche是右投，所以鐵爺可以
用左手來打擊，目前是把鐵爺列入day-to-day觀察。

"My plans are to play him [Sunday]," Girardi said. "We'll see how he feels when
 he gets here."
阿吉說他計畫在週日這場比賽把鐵爺放進打線，然後會觀察他感覺如何。

Teixeira said that he believed the injury occurred on a diving play at first
base on Wednesday in Baltimore, though he could not be exactly sure. The wrist
bothers him most while batting right-handed, as he would have had to do with the
Royals starting left-hander Horacio Ramirez on Saturday.


"I don't know exactly what happened, but I woke up on Thursday morning and it
was real sore," Teixeira said. "Because it was my top hand, I just felt a little
sore left-handed, but I knew today I was going to have to test it out in
[batting practice] because it was right-handed. It just feels pretty sore."

With Teixeira out of the lineup, Johnny Damon was reinserted in the lineup as
New York's left fielder, batting second, while Swisher moved from left field to
first base, batting third.

Teixeira is batting .250 with one home run and two RBIs in his first four games
for the Yankees after signing an eight-year, $180 million contract in December.
He said that he would have been available to bat left-handed or play the field
if needed on Saturday.
