六歲的小湯米患有急性骨髓血癌，在化療後病情減緩，洋基邀請他到球場來玩。

隊長跟小Q陪小湯米玩傳接球；Swisher教他一種特別的握手方式，並
且給他一個擁抱；齁黑教小湯米接球的訣竅。派派蹲下到小湯米眼睛的高度，
吉總也是，他跟小湯米說：" 你傳給Cano的球傳得好極了。再多一點練習，
下次我們請你回來守游擊。"

Tommy Belsky, all of 6 years old, played catch with Derek Jeter and Robinson
Cano at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Jeter handed Belsky a baseball,
the boy whizzed it to Cano, then Cano tossed it to Jeter. Then they repeated
the process.

On the one-year anniversary of Tommy’s learning that his cancer was in
remission, the Yankees invited him to the Stadium. He had acute myeloid
leukemia and was hospitalized for several months as he underwent aggressive
chemotherapy.

While Tommy was shy and kept his Yankees cap tugged tight over his eyes, he
turned animated once Jeter asked him to play catch. Belsky made about three
tosses to Cano, growing more confident with each throw. He seemed surprised
when the two Yankees continued warming up without him.

“This is beyond words,” said Tom Belsky, the boy’s father. “This is a
dream come true for a son and for a dad.”

Tommy, who lives in Hopewell, N.J., wore a Jeter jersey and was treated
royally by the players. Nick Swisher taught Tommy a special handshake and
hugged him. Jorge Posada gave Tommy insight about catching. Andy Pettitte
crouched down to be at Tommy’s eye level. Manager Joe Girardi did the same.


“You made a perfect throw to Robbie Cano,” Girardi said. “Maybe, with a
little more practice, we’ll get you back here to play shortstop.”
