Nady, Posada, Ransom, Molina slated to make trip Sunday

NEW YORK -- A quartet of rehabbing Yankees will leave for Tampa on Sunday --
Xavier Nady, Jorge Posada, Cody Ransom and Jose Molina all are slated to travel
to the team's Minor League complex.

Manager Joe Girardi said Nady (ulnar collateral ligament surgery) could
possibly get into an extended spring training game sometime this week, and
depending on their legs, so could Posada and Molina.

Posada (right hamstring strain) was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April
5, with Molina (strained left quadriceps muscle) following just three days
later. Ransom is on the 60-day DL with a strained right quadriceps muscle
suffered April 25, and his rehab is further behind.

In the wake of injuries to their top two catchers, Girardi has been impressed
with the performance of rookie Francisco Cervelli and free-agent signee Kevin
Cash.

"They've work well with our pitching staff," Girardi said. "They've done a nice
job of calling games, blocking pitches and taking charge. So we've been happy
with what they've done. These two have stepped up. "

Nady, who has been on the DL since April 16, has missed the most time of any
Yankee and is anxious to get down to Tampa.

"It's very exciting," Nady said while softening his glove, in hopes that he
will be back on the field this week.

Yankees reliever Brian Bruney is equally restless to get back to game action.
After making his debut off the DL with one inning on Tuesday, Bruney reported
soreness in his right flexor tendon -- which was previously strained -- prior
to Thursday's game.
Bruney 先前受傷的右屈肌腱又感到疼痛


Although an MRI came back negative, Bruney said on Saturday that his tendon is
still sore. He will play catch Sunday in hopes of coming back early next week.

能早點回來


"There's no guarantees, [we're] just going to play it by ear," said Bruney, who
has made no secret of his frustration. "I just have to go out, do my work and
try to get better."
