示放Hughes在牛棚是暫時的，猜測會等Brian Bruney從肘傷回來後，便會作變動。

The way Chien-Ming Wang has pitched lately, Phil Hughes could tell what was
likely to happen. The Yankees made it official Wednesday, announcing that
Wang would return to the rotation Thursday, with Hughes shifting to relief.

“I kind of knew something had to give, with the way Wang was pitching out of
the bullpen,” Hughes said. “He looks like he’s back to his normal self. It
kind of left me the odd man out.”

Manager Joe Girardi said he would not be afraid to use Hughes at any point in
a game, though General Manager Brian Cashman suggested Hughes’s stay in
relief will be temporary, perhaps until Brian Bruney returns from an elbow
injury.

Wang will face the Rangers, the team he blanked for two perfect innings last
week in Texas, and C. C. Sabathia will be pushed back to Friday. Girardi said
he wanted to split up the left-handers so Sabathia no longer follows Andy
Pettitte.

Wang lost his first three starts, with an earned run average of 34.50, before
the Yankees placed him on the disabled list with weakness in his hips. He
pitched at extended spring training and in Class AAA, and after throwing five
shutout innings in his last two relief appearances for the Yankees, there was
nothing else to prove.

“It’s one of those ‘What are you waiting for now?’ things,” Cashman
said. “It’s time to find a time to slot him in. He’s shown everything he’
s needed to show. If you wait any longer, you’d probably start going down
the other side of the mountain, which is disillusionment and those kinds of
things.”

Wang said he was throwing as hard, and with as much bite on his sinker, as he
was before tearing a tendon in his foot last June. He said he was happy to be
starting again, and Cashman sounded thrilled to have the kind of depth in the
rotation the Yankees lacked last season.

Cashman said the idea of moving Joba Chamberlain to the bullpen, instead of
Hughes, was not discussed. He is also not interested in trading from his
surplus of starters, though other teams have asked.

“People have reached out and called about our starters, seeing if there’s
an opportunity here to pry them away, if we were somehow of the mind-set that
this is too much for us to handle,” Cashman said. “I’ve just responded, ‘
We’re going to embrace this and take it where it goes.’”
