BOSTON — They have 55 days to let this settle, 55 days of killing time until
they meet the Boston Red Sox again. For almost two months, the Yankees will
live with the rancid aftertaste of another sweep by their rivals. No matter
how the Yankees handle other teams, the notion that they cannot beat Boston
will rattle around somewhere in their minds.

55天前被紅襪橫掃, 55天過了洋基還是沒進步, 又被橫掃一次. 洋基們將會擺脫不了
連續被宿敵紅襪橫掃兩次這樣令人作噁這回憶, 且無論洋基對上其他球隊如何如何,
無法擊敗紅襪的陰影將會如鬼魂一般的縈繞不去.....

It happened again on Thursday on Yawkey Way, in perhaps the most excruciating
of the Yankees’ eight losses to the Red Sox this season. Leading by two runs
in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Yankees blew the lead before
recording an out and lost it on a sacrifice fly by Mike Lowell. The Red Sox
dispatched the Yankees, 4-3, at drizzly and delirious Fenway Park. Their next
meeting is Aug. 6 in New York.

這場對紅襪的第八敗或許是洋基們本季最賭爛無法忍受的一敗吧, 八局下還領先兩分,

A two-out, two-run double by Alex Rodriguez had given the Yankees a lead in
the seventh. It was their first lead in 49 innings against Boston, but by the
bottom of the eighth, it was gone. C. C. Sabathia and Alfredo Aceves let it
get away.

七局上兩出局時阿肉的兩分打點二壘打讓洋基取得領先, 這是他們最近對戰紅襪49局來
首次的領先.   但再第八局領先就像變心的女友一樣, 不回頭的跑了...哭哭

Sabathia had thrown 106 pitches through seven innings, allowing just two
singles to his previous 20 batters. But Nick Green started the eighth with a
single, Dustin Pedroia worked a 10-pitch walk and J. D. Drew slapped a
run-scoring single.

八局上一開始Green敲安,Pedroia纏鬥10球後保送, JD Drew敲安得一分.

With six outs to go, Manager Joe Girardi called for Aceves, not Mariano
Rivera, and the Red Sox feasted. Kevin Youkilis poked a single to right,
loading the bases for Jason Bay, who singled in Pedroia to tie the game.
Lowell followed with a fly ball to Brett Gardner in shallow center, and Drew
scored standing up.

With eight victories, the Red Sox have their longest winning streak against
the Yankees to start a season since 1912, when they opened Fenway Park and
won the World Series. This season they lead the Yankees by two games in the
American League East, and their marquee slugger is finally getting hot.

延續前戰, 紅襪又創下對戰洋基的最長連勝

David Ortiz came into the game hitting .196, but there have been signs of an
uptick lately. He lashed a homer to center on Tuesday off a 95-mile-an-hour
fastball from A. J. Burnett, and on Wednesday he flied out to the triangle
area in center — the deepest part of the park.

On the first pitch he saw on Thursday, Ortiz brought his average to an even
.200 with his fourth home run of the season. Leading off the bottom of the
second, he smashed a 94-m.p.h. fastball from Sabathia into the Green Monster
seats to put the Red Sox ahead, 1-0. The fans — so adoring they gave Ortiz a
standing ovation for Wednesday’s fly out — responded with a curtain call.
