[外電] Wang’s Time in Rotation May Be Running Short

BOSTON — The struggling Chien-Ming Wang will get another start for the
Yankees, but possibly no more after that. Manager Joe Girardi said he told
Wang that the Yankees expected positive results from him next Wednesday
against the Washington Nationals, with the underlying message that his
position in the rotation would be on the line.

洋基佛心來的再給了王一次先發機會,但應該是最後一次了.  總教練跟王說洋基這次
希望看到好的比賽結果..

“As I told him, it’s important that he has a real good start,” Girardi
said. “He needs to show us that he’s back and he’s fully back, because at
some point production is important.”

總教練說..我跟王提到, 這一場投的好不好影響很大, 王不但得展現出他已經回到
過去的身手, 還必須讓大家看到他"完全"的回來了

The start comes at an important moment in Wang’s life, on a day when he may
not be well rested. Wang’s pregnant wife is scheduled to have labor induced
Tuesday, the day before his start, to deliver the couple’s first child. C.
C. Sabathia will start on Tuesday, which would have been Wang’s regular turn.

剛好那天王太太預定要分娩, 所以後來的新聞有提到週三改週四先發了

In five starts this season, Wang is 0-4 with a 21.60 earned run average.
Opponents are batting and almost incomprehensible .507 against him. Girardi
said there had been no discussion of the former pitching coach Ron Guidry, a
spring training instructor who had a good rapport with Wang, being brought in
as a troubleshooter.

開季王先發五場爆很大(不贅述), 總教練表示關於先前的投手教練Guidry沒啥好說的了

The current pitching coach, Dave Eiland, said Wednesday that there was
basically nothing he could do for Wang, who has shown consistent mechanics in
the bullpen. “I can’t go stand behind the mound with him during the game,”
 Eiland said, and Girardi agreed.

現任的投教Eiland說基本上他對王已經沒有東西要做的了, 因為王在牛棚fine, 出來投
就爆, 我總不能站在投手丘後面一球球的指導他吧.

“We work on mechanical stuff and we work on mental stuff, but when he’s
standing out there alone, there’s not a whole lot I can do for him,”
 Girardi said. “I believe in him, and he knows I believe in him, but
ultimately he has to throw the pitch.”

總教練說我們只能幫投手做身體動作跟心理建設上的調整, 但站上投手丘後, 投手就
必須自己來了.   我信任王, 王也知道我信任他, 但最終他還是得靠自己投球

Girardi said he was encouraged after watching video of Wang’s start after
Wednesday’s game and again on Thursday. Girardi said Wang had good action on
his sinker and threw quality sliders.

“What I didn’t see was enough strikes,” Girardi said. “I talked to him
and I said: ‘We need more strikes, we need quick outs from you, you need to
attack the zone. That’s who you are. If you don’t do that, you get in
trouble, because you’re not going to throw a lot of sliders and curveballs
and changes. You have to attack the zone, and it’s important that you go out
and do it the next time.’ ”

總教練表示看完王最近的兩場比賽後感到欣慰, 因為王的伸卡&滑球回來了, 唯一我覺得
不夠的是好球比例太少了.  他對王說, 我需要你投出更多的好球, 需要你那快速結束一
局的功力, 你必須勇敢的挑戰好球帶, 這才是你.  如果不這樣做的話, 你就有麻煩了.
