Posada can't wait to catch again for New York Yankees

1. Joer Girardi計畫讓Posada明天晚上和週日蹲捕，這是從7月3日已經他從來都沒作過
   的事情。對上海盜隊擔任一壘手的Posada已經等不及了，質疑為何不讓他回到熟悉的
   位置，他很火大。Posada表示: "我喜歡當接捕，可以嗎? 沒錯，我留在打線，我很
   高興留在打線，但我喜歡接捕。我是一個捕手，我不是一壘手，我不是指定代打。我
   喜歡接捕，所以我希望可以接捕。"

2. 所以這種情況對於曾經是Posada的隊友現在成為教練的Girardi來說，就變得相當敏感
   。Girardi表示他已經"照顧到Posada提到的事情了"。他表示: "他希望每天都可以接
   捕，當然那是屬於他的位置。我們也希望可以讓他回到他該在的位置。"

3. Girardi繼續說: "我不會期待任何球員無法守他希望守的位置是會感到快樂。當我還
   在洋基陣中擔任捕手時，當Jorgie開始當三天捕手，而讓我當兩天的捕手時，我也不
   一定會感到高興。我仍然想在在陣中五天中都擔任捕手。只是我可以體會情況是怎樣
   ，但是這不一定意味著你會喜歡這種情況。" (Girardi你話中有話哦! 只是也讓人想
   到去年Damon位置被搶時的感覺會是什麼。 )

4. Posada說Girardi "應該清楚 － 隊中的每個人都知道"他(Posada)心中的感覺如何。
   他們兩人也對這情況作過討論了。Girardi表示: "你對大家有所尊重，而你也必須尊
   重Jorgie。不只是因為他對球隊的貢獻，也是因為Jorgie是個值得尊重的人，他也一個
   好人。"

5. Posada在開幕戰當天弄傷了他傳球的肩膀，花了超過五週，包括整個5月，留在傷兵名
   單中。他承認肩膀的關節唇有傷，需要季後手術進行修補。所以當Posada說他的手臂
   100%已經好了，Girardi卻認為有改進的空間。Posada賽前作了傳球的練習，Girardi
   對他的狀況感到滿意。Girardi表示: "這是他手臂強度最好的狀況，我說過要花一點
   時間增強他手臂的強度的。不是要他努力點，這只是持續強化手臂的過程。他的手臂
   強度和開季的狀況是不同的，不是那麼的好。但就我看來，比起一週前已經非常，非
   常接近開季的狀況了。" (雖然聽來不怎麼有說服的效果，我們還是看後續的發展吧)

6. Posada說Girardi告訴他會讓Jose Molina在最近對上紅襪和光芒接捕的原因是，這兩
   個球隊在美聯球隊盜壘數是排前兩位的。

7. Molina在海盜隊的賽前的記錄是，將49%企圖盜壘的跑者阻殺出局。Posada則只有
   18.9% (37嘗試只抓到7次)。(只是17.8%的那位進到明星賽了耶!!!) 問到Girardi是否
   會繼續看對手跑壘的速度來挑選當日的捕手呢，Posada表示: "我不知道，這要問他。"

8. 這晚是Molina連續第六次先發蹲捕，這也是他生涯首次連續六場擔任先發捕手，也是洋
   基隊1997年以來首次連續六場不是由Posada擔任捕手 (Posada則表示如果不是因為週二
   他感冒，那場會是由他擔任Andy Pettitte的捕手)。

9. Girardi表示: "我們希望他蹲捕的時間多一點，但是我們就是必須每天看狀況作決定。
   " Posada守備那個位置的議論可能暫時消退了，但是這問題還是會重新浮出枱面，因
　 為他後面37個月在會在洋基隊，而今年只是他4年52.1 million合約的頭一年。

10. Girardi表示: "我們和他簽約是要讓他當捕手的，但是，你知道的，今年他受了傷，
    所以有些事情我們就必須要去解決。"


PITTSBURGH - Joe Girardi plans to play Jorge Posada at catcher tomorrow night
and Sunday, something he hasn't done for the Yankees since July 3.

And Posada, who tonight played first base against the Pittsburgh Pirates,
can't wait. Asked about his absence from the familiar position, he bristled.

"I like to catch, okay?" he said. "So, I'm in the lineup, I'm happy in the
lineup, but I like to catch. I'm a catcher. I'm not a first baseman. I'm not
a DH. I like to catch. So I'm looking forward to catching."

So it has become a delicate situation for Girardi, once Posada's teammate and
now his manager.

Girardi said he has "taken care of things" with Posada.

"He wants to catch every day, 'cause that's what he is," Girardi said. "We
hope to get him back to that spot.

"I don't expect any player to be happy about not playing where he wants to
be. When I was a catcher here and Jorgie started catching three days and I
was catching two, I wasn't necessarily happy about it. I still wanted to
catch five days in a row. But I understood. But that doesn't necessarily mean
that you like it."

Posada said Girardi "knows -- everybody here knows" how he feels. And the two
have discussed the situation.

"You have respect for people," Girardi said, "and you treat Jorgie with
respect. Not only because of what he's done for this organization, but Jorgie
is a respectful man and he is a good person."

Posada hurt his throwing shoulder on Opening Day and spent more than five
weeks, including all of May, on the disabled list. He has admitted to having
damage in his labrum which may require offseason surgery.

So while Posada said his arm is 100 percent, Girardi sees room for
improvement. Posada did some throwing drills before tonight's game, and
Girardi was pleased.

"It's the best his arm strength has been," Girardi said. "I said all along it
was going to take some time.

"There is no pain. There's just a continuing strengthening process. He's not
where he was at the beginning of the year, not quite. But he's much, much
closer than he was a week ago, in my eyes."

Posada said Girardi told him he wanted Jose Molina to catch the recent series
against Boston and Tampa Bay; those are the top two teams in the American
League in stolen bases.

Molina went into tonight having thrown out 49 percent of runners attempting
to steal, best among catchers with 20 or more starts. Posada's percentage was
18.9 (7-for-37).

Asked if Girardi would continue to pick catchers by the speed of the
opposition, Posada said, "I don't know. Ask him."

Tonight was Molina's sixth straight start, the first time in his career he
has started six games in a row and the first Yankees catcher other than
Posada to do so since Girardi in 1997 (Posada said he would have caught Andy
Pettitte on Tuesday except he was getting over a cold).

"We hope to have him catching more," Girardi said, "but we just have to go
day-by-day."

The matter of where Posada should play might subside but it will resurface,
since he turns 37 next month and is in just the first year of his four-year,
$52.1 million contract.

"We signed him as a catcher," Girardi said. "But, you know, he had an injury
this year, and it's something we have to deal with."
