1.Cashman把洋基表現不佳的責任一肩扛下。認為自己是GM，責任是自己的，
  這無關總教練，球隊有一個不錯的打擊教練，並認為球員都很有天份。
  是自己把這支球隊球員給組織起來的，所以就該負責任。

2.Cashman並說沒有任喜歡輸的感覺，而我們正在輸球，我們知道我們的表現
  應該比現在呈現的更好才對，但在某種程度上，你就是成績上所表現的那樣，
  除非你證明你不是，而我們似乎並沒有做到（證明我們不是）。

   Edwar Ramirez 算是兩個獨立聯盟中的老手，Brian Bruney 及 Jose Veras
   是以小聯盟的自由球員身份簽約的。

Brian Cashman was not ready to itemize what has gone wrong with his design
for the Yankees. There will be time for that soon enough, unless they make
an unlikely surge to the postseason.

But Cashman, the general manager, took full responsibility for the Yankees’
disappointing season when asked how much blame he deserved.

“All of it,” he said. “The bottom line is I’m the G.M. If you want to
clear this out of the way, this is not a Joe Girardi issue. We have a
terrific hitting coach in Kevin Long. I think we have extremely talented
players. I’ve put together a club that is where it’s at, and I’m
responsible for that.”

Cashman defended Girardi, the manager, and Long without being asked,
and he said the team had been hard to watch as it played “brutal baseball.”

“No one likes to deal with losing, and we’re losing right now, and we
feel we’re better than that,” Cashman said. “But at some point, you
are what your record is, and it’s up to us to prove otherwise. We’re
certainly not doing that.”

Cashman is unsigned past this season, but given his solid working
relationship with ownership, especially the co-chairman Hal Steinbrenner,
he is expected to return if he wants to stay.

CHAMBERLAIN MAKES PROGRESS Joba Chamberlain threw 45 pitches on Thursday
in his third bullpen session this week. He plans to pitch to hitters before
Saturday’s game and said it was realistic to think he could pitch for the
Yankees in relief next week.

“There’s light,” said Chamberlain, who has missed more than four weeks
with a rotator cuff injury. “It’s peeking through. But you learn to be
patient.”

HELP FOR THE BULLPEN The newest Yankee reliever is Alfredo Aceves, who
will be the first player in team history to wear No. 91. He has an unlikely
inspiration.

“When I was in high school, I used to watch basketball and the Chicago
Bulls,” said Aceves, who is from Sonora state in northwestern Mexico.
“Dennis Rodman was one of the best players at that time. The way he
played, he played a lot mentally. He made the other players get frustrated.”

The Yankees paid $450,000 to Aceves’s Mexican League team, the Sultanes
de Monterrey, to sign him in March. They also signed Manuel Banuelos,
who is 4-1 with a 2.57 earned run average in the Gulf Coast League.
“He’s a teenager, left-hander, very good,” Cashman said.

Aceves, 25, is here to provide bullpen depth, but he projects as a
starter. He has made 23 starts this year, going 8-6 with a 2.62 E.R.A.

The Yankees optioned the right-hander Dave Robertson to Scranton to
make room for Aceves, the latest reliever to come from an unlikely
source. Edwar Ramirez is a veteran of two independent leagues, and
Brian Bruney and Jose Veras were signed as minor league free agents.
