Hiding Out

After going 1,200 words on him yesterday, you'd think I'd have nothing
left to say about Posada. The Yankees are trying to keep it that way,
hiding him from the media by telling him to stay home. Brian Cashman
made himself scarce as well, leaving the local media thrashing in the
water like it was already Shark Week. We know that Posada had images
taken today, but the results and Posada's decision based on those results
remains unknown. This may be because, according to one source, Posada
has requested that the images be checked by other doctors. This is similar
to how things were handled back in April when Drs. Andrews and Kremchek
were consulted. I'd imagine it's the same sort of thing here if this is the
case, and I expect this to move pretty quickly, though I have no idea
right now which way Posada's decision will go. Funny—in yesterday's article,
I didn't even think to put a DXL on this. We'll go with 30 for now, though
he could end up being done for the season.

Brian Bruney (90 DXL)
Bruney might not seem like a big part of the Yankees' chances, but he is
a kind of symbol. Bruney is making some appearances at High-A Tampa and
could be back in the Bronx soon. That will help with the bullpen's depth,
but where Yankees fans should be taking notice is in the success and speed
with which the Yankees' medical staff brought Bruney back from his
Lisfranc injury. Yes, that's the same injury that put Chien-Ming Wang on
the DL, and it gives us an interesting basis for comparison. While Wang
and Bruney's injuries are not identical, because any two individuals will
have differences, there's enough commonality here to make some reasonable
inferences. If Bruney is back at or near the 90-day expectation, that would
put Wang on track for a return in mid-September. As before, Wang's return
will depend on the Yankees record at that point, but if the team can get
back in the race, they may get a late-season boost from their ace.

Chien-Ming Wang (90 DXL)
No one knows feet like Dr. Philip Kwong of Kerlan-Jobe, so I'll just
let him tell you about Wang: "It is unusual to have both a Lisfranc
ligament sprain and partial tear peroneal longus together, and longer
time will be needed for recovery (8-12 weeks if no significant
instability occurs at the Lisfranc joints). The combined injuries
represent greater rotational stress than would be experienced for
each injury alone. Prognosis and time line for recovery will depend
on the exact amount of ligament/tendon tear sustained and on the
amount of tissue remaining to provide stability. Healing is the
formation of scar tissue and not regrowth of the normal ligament
or tendon tissue; consequently, future problems such as arthritis
can occur at Lisfranc's joints or reinjury of the peroneal longus
tendon." So as I'd expected, the additional damage beyond the Lisfranc
is likely to add to the time Wang is out. It leaves very little wiggle
time for him to come back and throw meaningful innings, not unless the
Yankees are right and Wang comes back at the extreme low end of
expectations. I think the Yankees' record is going to dictate how
this is eventually handled.

→ leddy:6月BP就寫過預計wang要休3個月,但內文是三個月也不太樂觀
