Outfielder returns to clubhouse ready to resume role

NEW YORK -- Bubba Crosby was welcomed back to the Yankees clubhouse Thursday
with a bear hug from first-base coach Tony Pena and a "Bubba-licious!" call
from infielder Miguel Cairo.
"You're going to put me back on the DL," Crosby shouted out as he dangled
from Pena's arms.

Crosby was active for the series finale against Cleveland -- while backup
shortstop Nick Green was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot --
but was not in the starting lineup. He came into the game in center field in
the eighth inning and went 1-for-1 with a bloop double.

after being moved up to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, Crosby started to find
his stroke.

Williams in right field before he went down with the injury, and was often
brought in late in the game as a defensive specialist. That's a role Crosby
expects to resume.

before, when Randy Johnson and Torre were ejected, Posada said, "We'll see. I
have no idea."

Posada didn't discuss why he was so angered by Jason Johnson's plunking
Wednesday night after the game, but his actions spoke volumes. After Derek

chance to speak Thursday.

Crosby said Dotel has looked good, getting better command of his 93-95 mph
fastball and slider. The slider was giving Dotel the most trouble, but it was

road after a 10-game homestand that has had its share of twists and turns.
