Damon shows stripes to Sox

TAMPA - Johnny Damon entered the Yankees' clubhouse a little before 3 p.m.
yesterday. He exchanged a few pleasantries with Jason Giambi, quickly
undressed and bounced in the direction of the trainer's room a few moments
later wearing a T-shirt and his uniform pants.
昨天下午三點左右Johnny Damon走進洋基隊球員休息室
和隔壁的Jason Giambi亂哈拉幾句 很快換上T-shirt球褲往訓練室走去

"Hey, Johnny!" Giambi yelled as Damon trotted away, but the Yankees' new
center fielder was gone, blissfully unaware that he'd put on his road uniform
on the day the Bombers played host to his old team, the Red Sox, at Legends
Field.
大吉大叫 "喂 強尼"  但這位洋基新來的中外野手已經走掉
完全沒發現這場在洋基主場傳奇球場出戰老東家紅襪的比賽
他正穿著客場制服(**大門會不會太耍寶了**)

After the Yanks had finished pregame batting practice, Damon - wearing the
correct pinstripes - sat in the dugout and told a large throng that he
"definitely feels a part of this team" and didn't think facing the Red Sox
was a big deal. He then went 1-for-4 as the designated hitter, smacking a
single in the third inning and scoring the Yanks' second run in a 5-4 win
over Boston.
在洋基隊打擊練習後 穿著正確條紋衣的大門坐在球員休息室告訴大家
他絕對是球隊裡的一員 並不覺得面對紅襪隊有什麼大不了
而在接下來比賽裡 他擔任指定打擊 在第三局擊出一支一壘安打
並為洋基隊跑回第二分 有四之一的打擊表現 終場洋基以五比四打敗紅襪

Damon had been hoping to play center field last night but was limited to DH
duties as Joe Torre wanted to give his new center fielder's sore left
shoulder another day of rest.
昨天大門希望上去守中外野
但老教頭Joe Torre希望讓他酸痛的左肩能多休息一天
所以還是讓他擔任指定打擊

Damon has been battling tendinitis that hampers his throwing but is expected
to play the field on Saturday. Torre nearly played him in center last night
but team trainers want to see Damon do throwing drills for one more day and
Damon is not going to make the long trip to Fort Myers on Friday, pushing him
back to Saturday.

"I'm not too concerned," he said. "It was a temporary setback for me. I'll be
ready come Opening Day. I'll be ready every day."
他說"我不擔心 這只是暫時的 我已經準備好開幕賽 也準備好接下來的每一天"

Damon got a mostly warm ovation from the sellout crowd of 10,334 - some boos
from Red Sox fans filtered through - and then drew more cheers in his first
at-bat when he fouled off a pitch that hopped into the Boston dugout. Damon
peered over, looking to see if he'd hit one of his old friends while some
fans applauded.
大門出場得到全場滿座(10,334人)大多數觀眾溫暖的致敬 加上一些紅襪迷的噓聲

Although he said several times over the winter that he felt the Red Sox had
shown disrespect in how they handled his free agency, Damon said yesterday
that he's completely over those feelings.
雖然這個冬天他幾度表示  感覺紅襪在處理他自由球員合約時的不尊重
大門昨天則說這些完全都過去了

"I think it's the way things show up in writing," said Damon, who signed a
four-year, $52 million deal with the Bombers. "I'm not angry. I'm happy. They
wanted to move on and I have moved on. I wish them luck. Things happen all
the time. Change happens."
和洋基簽了一紙四年五千兩百萬合約的大門說
"我想白紙黑字說明一切 我不生氣 我很高興 他們想向前看 我也向前看
我祝福他們 這種事常發生 改變也會發生"

Part of that change for Damon was losing his trademark long hair and shaggy
beard, a transformation that drew a previously unimaginable amount of
attention. Asked yet again about his Yankee-mandated shorter haircut, Damon
said he doesn't miss his Caveman look at all.
大門的改變之一就是失去他的註冊商標-長髮落腮鬍
這個轉變也意外成為話題焦點
再次被問到他的洋基風格短髮
大門表示一點也不懷念之前的洞穴人造型

"I've enjoyed not having to mess with it," he said. "I've enjoyed shaving.
I actually feel a bit younger. My mom's got her baby back."
他說"我很享受這樣的乾淨路線 我喜歡刮鬍子 真的覺得比較年輕 我媽的寶貝回來了"
