Damon delivers win with homer in 10th
大門第十局全壘打，為球隊取得勝利

BALTIMORE -- Minus four of their best offensive players and their dominant
closer, the Yankees continued to find ways to win on Saturday.
雖然隊上少了四名最具攻擊力的球員以及終結者，禮拜六洋基還是找到贏球的方法。

Outfielders Hideki Matsui and Gary Sheffield are on the disabled list with
wrist injuries, Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi are dealing with stomach
problems and Mariano Rivera is recovering from back spasms, but the Yankees
haven't missed a beat, winning seven of their last eight after a 6-5 victory
in 10 innings at Camden Yards.

Johnny Damon picked up a short-handed bullpen with his 10th-inning solo homer
to center field, which helped New York improve to 5-1 on its road trip and
move into first place in the American League East. Damon, who scored the
game-winning run on Friday, went 3-for-5 with two runs.

With Rivera gone, the Yankees used Kyle Farnsworth as their closer in the
previous two games, but he was unavailable Saturday because of the heavy
workload. Scott Proctor assumed the role Saturday, but blew a save opportunity
in the eighth when the Orioles tied it at 5. He pitched around a leadoff single
in the ninth to take the game into extra innings.

"It just gives you an idea how easy [Rivera] makes a manager's decision,"
Torre said. "Now we just have to find a way to get to that last out. ...
Wang was great."

There have been save opportunities in each of the last three games, and Torre
has been forced to make more decisions that normal, which he compared to
managing in the National League.

"We've got to take help from wherever we can get it right now," he said.
"It's exciting, it really is."

Wang, who is scheduled to start Tuesday against Boston, was told not to throw
his usual bullpen session before the game in case he was needed in relief.
Wang said after the game that it was his first save ever at any level.

Rookie Kevin Thompson made his Major League debut in right field, collecting
his first career hit on an infield single in the sixth, and he also caught
the final out.

比賽的最後一個出局數。

"We've got a lot of people contributing right now," said Derek Jeter.
"Everyone's playing their part."

Andy Phillips homered for the second straight day, which extended his hit
streak to five games, and Bernie Williams drove in three runs as the designated
hitter.

"We feel like we can win even when we don't have the big guys in there,"
Damon said.

New York collected 13 hits, giving the team at least 10 hits in each of its
last 11 games. The last time they did that was in July 1937. The Yankees have
scored at least five runs in 11 of the last 12 contests.
洋基總共敲出13支安打，保持了最近連續11場比賽都有至少10支安打的出現，上次有這樣
的紀錄是在1937年7月。而最近12場比賽也有11場都至少得五分。
