NEW YORK -- Melky Cabrera left the bases loaded in the fourth inning, but when given a second chance, the Yankees' young left fielder didn't waste it. Cabrera singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth to give the Yankees a 6-5 victory over the White Sox on Friday night. The Yankees had squandered chances with the bases loaded in the fourth and fifth innings before pushing across three runs in the eighth. Mariano Rivera nailed down career save No. 399 to secure the win, despite allowing two runs in the ninth. The Yankees took their first lead of the game when recently acquired outfielder Aaron Guiel belted a solo home run in the sixth to put the Yankees up, 3-2. But the White Sox tied the score again in the seventh when Paul Konerko led off the inning with a single and scored on a Juan Uribe sacrifice fly off Yankees starter Randy Johnson. Johnson allowed a two-run homer to Joe Crede in the top of the second but only allowed two hits after that. He pitched seven innings and struck out six batters, including streaking slugger Jim Thome three times. White Sox starter and former Yankee Jose Contreras allowed just one runner to reach base in the first three innings but ran into trouble starting in the fourth. Contreras had his 17-game win streak snapped. In the fourth, Jorge Posada singled home Derek Jeter with the bases loaded and Bernie Williams scored Jason Giambi with a sacrifice fly. The Yankees could have taken the lead but Cabrera left the bases loaded with a weak pop out to third. The Yankees had another golden chance to take the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Miguel Cairo led of the inning with a triple. But Johnny Damon and Jeter followed with swinging strikeouts and Posada grounded out with the bases loaded and two outs. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 222.156.3.10
