BRONX, New York (Ticker) -- Pitching in scorching heat,
Chien-Ming Wang was his usual efficient self.

在如此炙熱的天氣下投球，小王依舊投的很有效率。

Wang persevered through conditions that nearly reached 100 degrees, pitching
eight scoreless innings to lead the New York Yankees to a 7-2 triumph over
the Toronto Blue Jays.

在高達華氏100度的氣溫下，小王投滿八局、無失分的表現，帶領球隊以7比2打敗藍鳥。

It was the seventh victory in the last eight games for the Yankees (63-41), who
climbed a season-high 22 games above .500 and remained tied with the rival
Boston Red Sox (64-42) for first place in the American League East Division.

這是洋基(63勝41負)過去8場比賽中第7場的勝利，比5成勝率還要多上22場的勝場數也
攀向季賽新高，而在美東排頭戰中仍和紅襪並駕齊驅(勝率些微領先)。

The East Coast recently has been dealing with temperatures in the high 90s even
at night and Wednesday was no different, with a game-time temperature of 97
degrees.

美東最近熱浪來襲，不管是白天或黑夜都有高達華氏90度的高溫，而週三的比賽更達華氏
97度。

"It was not too bad," Wang said of the conditions, which stayed above 90
degrees all night.  "In Taiwan it's the same."

昨晚氣溫一值保持在華氏90度以上，面對這種情況，小王說："還好啦，跟台灣一樣"

But the heat and humidity did not phase Wang (13-4), who scattered fours hits
to record his fifth straight win.  The Taiwanese righthander walked three and
struck out three,throwing 69 of 104 pitches for strikes.  His only shaky inning
was the second, when Toronto drew three walks and managed a hit.

這種炙熱與溼熱的天氣並未讓小王受影響，他只被打4支安打，並拿到了5連勝。小王整場
投了104球，其中有69球是好球，三振與保送各三次。他唯一比較抖的一局是第二局，被打

"When I send him out there, you don't even consider (his youth)," Yankees
manager Joe Torre said of the 26-year-old Wang. "The only thing you keep an eye
on is pitch count.  He throws strikes, and still your best option is the
groundball."

In addition to extending the longest winning streak of his young career, Wang
has won his last eight decisions at Yankee Stadium.  He extended his scoreless
innings streak to 18 innings and has recorded 33 outs via the groundball over
his last two outings.

這場勝利除了是小王生涯最多勝之外，也是小王在主場的第8場勝利。同時，連續未失分
局數也來到了18局，而最近兩場的出賽也累計了33個滾地球出局。

"There's a lot to him, more than the fact that he throws shutout innings,"
Torre said. "The fact that he gets groundballs and throws strikes (is big)."

Torre說："這場勝利對他有很多意義，不只是延續無失分的局數，同時他也不斷的讓打者
打滾地球，而好壞球比也保持的很好。"

"He's a got a power sinker," Toronto manager John Gibbons added."He's a
groundball machine."

Wang received help in the second from catcher Jorge Posada, who threw out
All-Star Troy Glaus trying to steal second.  Toronto loaded the bases with two
outs, prompting a visit from pitching coach Ron Guidry.  Wang settled down,
retiring John McDonald on a grounder to escape unscathed.

Posada在第2局成功的的讓明星選手Troy Glaus盜壘失敗，而投手教練Ron Guidry也在
第2局滿壘的時候上前安撫小王，接著小王就讓McDonald擊出滾地球，無失分的結束掉

"Gator (Guidry) told me to stay back and don't throw too hard," Wang said of
his adjustment following the second inning.

"He can do that," Yankees captain Derek Jeter said of Wang."He's been pitching
as well as anyone in baseball the last couple of months."

隊長Jeter說:"他可以克服這個難關的，他過去幾個月投的比誰都還要好。"

The Yankees grabbed a 1-0 lead with one out in the third, as Jeter extended his
hitting streak to 11 games with an opposite-field homer against Ted Lilly
(9-10).

洋基在第3局1人出局的情況下，靠著Jeter從Lilly手中打出的全壘打使得洋基以1:0
領先藍鳥。

After stranding two baserunners in the fourth, New York extended its lead in
the sixth when Posada crushed a 1-0 pitch from Lilly over the Yankees' retired
numbers well beyond the left field fence.

在第4局留下殘壘後，洋基在第6局又展開攻勢，Posada從Lilly手中擊出了左外野方向
的全壘打。

The Yankees chased Lilly when newcomer Craig Wilson followed with a hit and
rookie Melky Cabrera doubled.  Johnny Damon added an RBI single and Jeter drew
a bases-loaded walk off reliever Dustin McGowan. Rodriguez capped the six-run
outburst with a two-run single, pushing the lead to 7-0.

接著新同學Craig Wilson和Cabrera相繼擊出安打，並把Lilly打下場。Damon補上1支1分
打點安打，Jeter被保送，使得藍鳥派出第三任救援投手McGowan。隨後Arod擊出2分打點
安打把分數拉開到7比0。

Lilly, who pitched for the Yankees from 2000-02, allowed five runs and a season
-high 10 hits.  He is 2-7 in 13 career starts against his former club.

Lilly在2000年到2002年期間曾經為洋基隊效力，昨天被打出本季最高的10支安打並失掉5
分。他生涯對戰老東家的13場先發成績為2勝7負。

"At this point, what I need to focus on is match the opposing pitcher," Lilly
said.  "Wang, he scuffled a little bit early but got the outs when he needed
to."

Lilly說："就此點來說(失分)，我想我應該多看看小王的表現。""他(小王)雖然一開始遭
遇亂流，但還是成功的讓打者無功而返。"

Glaus ended New York's shutout bid in the ninth, blasting a two-run homer off
lefthander Ron Villone.

Glaus在九局從Ron Villone手上打出了2分打點全壘打，挽救了藍鳥被完封的命運。

All-Star Vernon Wells had two hits for Toronto (57-50), which has lost six of
its last seven games.

明星選手Vernon Wells有2支安打的表現，藍鳥過去7場比賽已輸掉了6場。
