王建民符合成為Cy Young獎候選人的條件

對一個十八個月前仍被認為是具有潛力的投手，而現在已然成為一個優質投手完成體的人
來說，王建民已經將自己的表現提升到足以成為美聯Cy Young獎競爭者之一的程度。王建
民在整季都有傑出的表現，若不是對Zimmerman的失投，他現在的戰績應該是14勝3敗而非
13勝4敗，把他在對上金鶯隊時臨危受命上場救火並拿下一個救援點的比賽算進去，你得到
的結果是一個極具價值且能在其能力範圍內竭盡所能為球隊做出貢獻的投資。

在紐約當地的媒體中，所謂的"專家"仍然像球季初時一般公開嘲笑王建民的表現，不過其
中一些較為誠實的人已經收回他們對王建民的評語，而自認為歷史學家的人也非常自然地
遺忘或是修正自己過去曾經針對王建民說出的話。在他們刻意改變姿態的行為中，證明了
他們缺乏知識和責任感，這些傢伙把他們幾乎一無所知的事情說得像是瞭若指掌一般。如
今，王建民持續他明星投手級的表現，再度證明他們的評論是大錯特錯。

這些對於王建民的不公評價可以追溯到他新人球季中期，當時王建民因為某天清晨覺得肩
膀酸痛而最終被放進了傷兵名單，不過那時就有人編造出王建民傷勢嚴重將要進行手術，
而這將會導致他在2007年之前都無法出賽的不實傳言。最終王建民不但回到了球場上，而
且還是個成功的復出。如今王建民不但勝投數在大聯盟名列前茅，在洋基隊中，他和Moose
也成了球隊最重要的兩位先發投手。

要評斷一個來自太平洋邊緣的球員是非常困難的，更別說要把他們在國內的數據成功地換
算成在大聯盟的成績了。有人可能會成為下一個鈴木一朗或是松井秀喜，也有人會成為下
一個松井稼頭秧或是伊良部秀輝。而針對王建民的狀況，要能有適切的評價又更為困難了
，因為上述其他球員都是來自日本職棒聯盟，而王建民卻是來自台灣，一個球員素質較日
本低的國家。這或許是為何王建民一直到25歲才升上大聯盟，26歲才大放光彩的原因。無
論如何，王建民還是辦到了，他能搶好球數，他展現了對比賽的宰制力，他還能讓自己持
續出現在投手丘上（Pavano你給我好好注意聽著）。

我只是對於那些所謂的"專家"在王建民本季最終以20勝作收時會有什麼話好說感到好奇，
他們恐怕會很自然地遺忘自己在王建民剛到來時就持續做出的負面評價吧，他們是因為自
己情報蒐集的深厚經驗而從一開始就深信王建民最終定會成功的嗎？至少他們將會試著要
別人這麼相信...

: has become, essentially, the Yankees starter number 1A along with Mike
: Mussina.
:     It is difficult to judge players that come from the Pacific rim and their
: abilities to adjust to the majors. One may turn into Ichiro; one may turn
: into Hideki Matsui; one may turn into Kaz Matsui; one may turn into Hideki
: Irabu. And it was even more difficult to come up with a legitimate projection
: on Wang because, while those other players were coming from the Japanese
: League, Wang was coming from Taiwan, where the quality of the play is less

:     I'm just curious as to what those "experts" are going to say at the end
: of the season if Wang wins 20 games. They'll probably conveniently forget the
