Damon returns to center field:
Johnny Damon strolled out to center field on Saturday for the first time
since March 10, when he played the outfield for Team USA in the World
Baseball Classic.
After watching the first ball hit his way drop between him, Robinson Cano
and Bernie Williams, Damon may have wished he was still serving as the
Yankees' designated hitter.
"Did you see that first play?" asked Damon. "That was a good way to start;
be embarrassed with the first play, then be ready to go."
Damon's first day back in center field wasn't a bad one, though he got off
to an inauspicious start when Carl Crawford's popup dropped between the three
Yankees in right-center field. The ball looked to be Cano's off the bat, but
the wind carried it out toward the outfield, where it eventually fell for a
double.
自從3月10號打經典賽之後...星期六是Damon第一次再次踏到中外野的草皮上...
第一個處理球落在他跟Cano還有Bernie之間...Damon可能還是想先當DH慢慢復原...
Damon問"你有看見第一顆處理球嗎?那對我來說是個好的開始...一次難處理的play..."
Damon回到中外野的第一天表現並不壞...雖然用Crawford的三人中落地安打開場...
這球看起來Cano可以接到...但是風把它吹到中外野...最後Crawford跑出二壘打...
Working it out:
While his teammates took on the Rays in St. Pete, Mike Mussina threw six
innings in a Minor League game against Triple-A Durham at the Yankees'
complex in Tampa.
Mussina allowed three runs on five hits and three walks, striking out three.
He threw 92 pitches, including 56 for strikes.
"He got his work in," Torre said. "The most important thing is the number of
pitches."
當隊友都在聖比特對戰魔鬼魚...Moose則是在小聯盟打3A的熱身賽投了6局...
Moose丟了3分...被打5支安打跟3個保送...3個三振...用了92球...其中56個好球...
Torre說"他照他的進度走...這次最重要的要看的是投球數..."
Catching a cold:
Carl Pavano had his batting practice session canceled on Saturday due to the
cool weather, as temperatures in Tampa dipped into the high 50s and low 60s.
Pavano will throw a side session on Sunday, then pitch in relief of Mussina
on Thursday in the Yankees' Grapefruit League finale.
"He'll pitch an inning, and if he feels good enough, he'll pitch two innings
," Torre said. "We'll see."
Torre believes Pavano will get more out of pitching relief in the Yankees'
big-league game than he would starting in the Minor League game across the
street.
"It really takes a lot to convince yourself on that Minor League side that
the work is the same," Torre said. "It's the mental part; the physical part,
maybe you can convince yourself."
星期六Pavano原來的練習因為天氣有點涼取消...Pavano星期天會再投一個循環...
然後星期四熱身賽的時候再安排接替Moose先發後面擔任中繼投手...
Torre說"會讓他上去丟一局...如果他覺得狀況不錯...會看是不是要繼續丟第二局..."
Torre相信Pavano在洋基先在中繼調整...再回小聯盟進行他的先發角色...
Torre說"在小聯盟的工作項目跟大聯盟相同...在精神上體能上都可以作調整..."
Wright track:
Jaret Wright threw a bullpen session on Saturday, testing his back on a
mound for the first time since suffering spasms last Sunday.
"I thought it went well," Wright said. "I didn't feel it at all."
Wright threw 20 pitches from halfway up the mound, then he made 10 throws
from the rubber. Wright will throw a full bullpen session on Monday, and he
could pitch in a game on Wednesday in Lakeland, Fla., against the Tigers.
"He was good today," Torre said. "He looked like he's over it."
Wright星期六在牛棚丟了一個循環...測試他的背是不是上投手丘可以正常投球...
Wright說"我覺得狀況會變好...我沒有感覺到痛..."Wright在投手丘旁丟了20球...
然後在投手板也再丟了10球...星期一還要再一次牛棚裡面作一循環的投球...
然後到了星期三對老虎的熱身賽將再上場...Torre說"看來他完成他該做的工作..."
Small steps:
Aaron Small (hamstring) threw in the bullpen on Saturday, throwing from
halfway up the mound.
"I feel great," Small said. "It's definitely moving in the right direction."
Small will repeat the half-mound bullpen session on Monday, then he'll try a
regular bullpen on Wednesday. Torre said he still is expecting Small to open
the season on the disabled list.
Small星期六也在牛棚開始丟球...而且也是在投手丘旁丟...
Small說"覺得很好...目前狀況恢復都在預期中..."Small星期三會再次在牛棚練投...
Torre說"還是希望Small開季先在DL養傷...不要急著上場..."

Octavio Dotel, who is working his way back from last year's Tommy John elbow
surgery, will throw his first batting practice session in the next few days.
The Yankees don't expect Dotel back until late May or early June.

Torre plans to announce his rotation for the start of the season on Tuesday.
Randy Johnson has been named the Opening Day starter, and based on the spring
rotation, Mussina and Chien-Ming Wang could follow him in the three-game
series against the A's, April 3-5.
