Yanks' Chacon relishes competition
Right-hander has tossed five scoreless innings this spring

Chacon has said Spring Training with the Yankees has been a different
experience.
"Maybe there's a little less focus in Spring Training in Colorado because
there's not [six] big-league starters in camp," Chacon said. "Regardless of
what anybody says, there's competition in the [Yankees] clubhouse for spots
in the rotation and in the pitching staff, period. So you go out there and
you compete, and like I've said, I don't take anything for granted. I go out
there and treat every time on the mound the same."

他說"也許是因為以前在落磯隊春訓時 沒人注意 也沒有六個先發大投手
不管人家說什麼 (洋基)先發投手輪值位置是有競爭的

Randy Johnson and Mike Mussina will fill the top spots in the rotation, and
manager Joe Torre has said that assuming Carl Pavano is healthy, he'll be a
starting pitcher. That leaves Chacon, Chien-Ming Wang and Jaret Wright
fighting for the last two spots.

Chacon admitted he liked the competition.

"I think I get more out of competing," Chacon said. "Because if you go out
there with the mentality that you want to get outs and you're trying to
accomplish that, that is easier to carry over from Spring Training than to
all of a sudden just turn it on and say, 'OK, now my stuff is where I want it.
Now I want to start getting outs.' For me, it's just keeping everything the
same every day."
夏先生說"我覺得在競爭下我表現更好 因為當你上場心裡想著 要讓打者出局
就會試著達成 這樣也比春訓後一下子就上膛 說OK準備好了 投球內容都有了 容易些
我把每天都當成一樣的情況來調整"
"It's an unspoken thing," Chacon said of the competition. "Everybody knows,
and it's not like you want somebody to do bad so that you look better. I go
out there and do good, and whoever goes in there after me, they're going to
want to do well.

"It's a friendly competition. It makes everybody better. When you have a
situation like we have, it pushes you to really focus and be better and get
better every day."

Torre said he was impressed with Chacon's outing against the Twins, and he
doesn't seem concerned about the way the 28-year-old is dealing with the
pressure to make the Yankees rotation. In fact, it's just the opposite.

他也不在乎這位28歲投手正面臨洋基先發輪值的競爭壓力
事實上相反
"I don't know what he was like over in Colorado," Torre said. "But since he's
come here, he probably has been as comfortable as anybody. He just seems to
enjoy it. Even when he's not pitching, he seems to enjoy everything that goes
on around here. As I say, I can't compare anything, because I didn't know him
before that. But he certainly has fit in real well here."
