NEW YORK -- A day after the bats ruled over two of the game's top pitchers, a
couple of young pitchers who have struggled as of late staked their claim to
the mound on Tuesday, ending in a 2-1 Yankees win that had plenty of
excitement despite the low score.
Whereas Monday featured Josh Beckett and Mike Mussina, Tuesday's matchup was
a Red Sox pitcher making his second career start and a Yankee youngster with
an ERA over 5.00.
在經歷打者狂轟猛打的比賽之後，兩位年輕選手在投手丘上互相較勁，最後洋基以2-1
取勝，真的是蠻刺激的比賽，儘管比分不高。

By the end of the seventh, the Yankees and Red Sox only had solo homers to
brag about because of Boston's David Pauley and New York's Chien-Ming Wang.
That's why it wasn't surprising when it took a harmless grounder that went
under one glove and a bare hand to get the eventual game-winning run across.
七局結束，兩隊的投手各被轟了一發陽春砲，但一個看起來平凡的滾地球，投
手沒接到，二壘手空手想接這個球也沒能成功，讓洋基得到致勝分，這就不令人驚訝了


With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Miguel Cairo hit a grounder that
looked as though it would end the inning. Instead, the ball squeaked under
Pauley's glove and then Alex Cora's hand to extend the inning. A Johnny Damon
single and Melky Cabrera walk loaded the bases for Jason Giambi, who walked
on a full count to push across a run and make the score 2-1.
在七局下兩出局後，Cairo打了一個看來要結束該半局的滾地球，不過那粒球閃過了
Pauley的手套跟Cora的手。Damon的安打、卡布獲得保送，形成滿壘給技安比。技安比
又開外掛擠回來一分，讓比分變成2-1。

The Red Sox almost tied the score in the top of the eighth, when Manny
Ramirez sent a long fly ball to left field that would have gone for a homer
had Cabrera not leaped over the fence and brought it back into the park.
Cabrera held the ball high above his head in triumph as Damon jumped up and
down, pumping his fists.

紅襪在八局上原本有機會追平，當Manny打了一個幾乎要變全壘打的飛球，
但卡布說：no，硬是沒收了這支全壘打。卡布跟Damon真是爽翻了。
