 The Yankees fielded, for certain, the greatest baseball lineup I've ever seen.

我生平所見過最恐怖的棒球打線

星期三晚上，我坐在一間小酒吧裡，見到洋基在主場對金鶯打了一場聊勝於無的比賽。
當這批人間凶器在前四局就打成13-2時，比賽就算是提早結束了，最後洋基以16-5獲勝。

有人說這種一面倒的比賽其實有點沈悶到讓人想打瞌睡。
但是我卻認為，我可是親身見證了棒球歷史。
洋基佬排出的陣容，毫無疑問，是我平生所見最暴力最嗜血最靠北到不行的打線。


: Jonny Damon, CF    強尼大門，中外野手
: Derek Jeter, SS    迪瑞克吉特，游擊手
: Bobby Abreu, RF    巴比阿不瑞尤，右外野手
: Alex Rodriguez, 3B 一根棒子，三壘手
: Jason Giambi, DH   傑森吉昂比，指定打擊
: Gary Sheffield, RF 蓋瑞薛飛爾得，一壘手
: Hideki Matsui, LF  松井秀喜，左外野手
: Jorge Posada, C    喬治波薩達，捕手

: All of them — ALL of them — have been All-Star starters
 (save Cano, who was voted to start in this season's Midsummer Classic,
 but unable to play because of injury).

這上面每一個人---每一個人--- 都曾是明星賽的先發球員(一定要挑剔的話那就是除了
卡諾以外，他有被選上，但是因傷未能上場)

: Four of them — Abreu, Rodriguez, Giambi and Sheffield — have been the best
 hitters on other MLB clubs.
 Matsui, of course, a Japan league legend and MLB star.

其中四個人 --- 阿不，棒子，吉昂比跟老薛 --- 都曾是其他大聯盟球隊上的最佳打者。
至於哥吉拉，更不用說，是日本職棒的傳奇人物，當然也是大聯盟人氣球星。

: Five of them hit home runs Wednesday night, in the first game in which the
 Yankees were able to field their healthiest, most potent lineup.

先發名單上面有五個人在週三晚上打出全壘打，而這也是洋基今年第一次展現出全員到齊
，元氣飽滿而毫髮無傷的打擊陣容。(在季末人終於湊齊了...)

: The 1-2-3 of Damon (24 HRs, 113 R, 25 SB), Jeter (.340 BA, 114 R, 32 SB)
 and Abreu (.430 OBP, 106 RBI, 29 SB) is probably the best in baseball.

: This lineup is averaging 16 runs per game.

這批怪物在正常情況下，每一場平均打下16分

 Well, more, because a bunch of 'em got subbed out after the early carnage.
The starters, at one point, scored 13 runs while committing 11 outs.

更進一步來看，這些惡棍在上場大屠殺幾輪過後，幾乎都被教練換下去反省了。
在先發的人員中，在前11個出局數裡就掃進了13分。

: And they did it all in front of The Boss. No, not Steinbrenner, but
 Springsteen.

然後這一切的惡行就在"老闆" (Springteen, 不是 Steinbrenner)面前這麼囂張地，
肆無忌憚地上演。

: It's too bad we don't have any pitching,
 because nobody would trade their 1-2-3 postseason starters for Wang,
 Mussina and Johnson, nor would they swap their closer for Rivera.

至於投手群，有王，穆西納跟巨怪，外加里維拉終結者，實在不知道哪一隊的前
三大季後賽先發與終結者的整體實力能與之抗衡的。

下面跟洋基沒啥關係就不翻了....翻得不好請多包涵指教。

: In other news, the third-place Red Sux lost, 11-0, at home
(is anyone still showing up?)
to the Devil Rays, and Pedro Martinez has a 16.97 ERA over his last four
 starts, giving up 22 hits and 20 earned runs in 11 2/3 innings.
 (He pretty much sucks right n: ow.)
: In even more other news,
 Terrell Owens contends he did not try to kill himself.
 As his publicist said during a press conference,
"Terrell has 25 million reasons to be alive."
Now that's the asshole I want to see get hurt — real bad,
