Torre not concerned about closer's state of mind

ST. PETERSBURG -- For more than four months, Mariano Rivera was perfect.
But after converting 31 consecutive save opportunities, the All-Star
closer has had a couple of hiccups in the past week, blowing saves against
the Rangers and Devil Rays.

Tuesday's blown save came on a solo home run by Eduardo Perez, his second
of the game. Rivera blamed poor location on the cut fastball, and Joe Torre
stressed that with Rivera, location is everything.

"He insists he is," Torre said. "He's throwing the ball really well.
[It's been] his location the last couple of times out. Because he's just

If there's one thing that Torre is not concerned about, it's how Rivera
will respond after the two blown saves.
"I'm not worried about him," the manager said. "He's in great shape,
and he's so strong, mentally, that that's where the trust comes from."
