September 2, 2006 -- Joe Torre came out to the dugout before last night's
Yankees game against the Twins at the Stadium and said the words that put
fear into the heart of every Bombers fan.

"No Mo tonight," Torre said.

The Yankees shut down Mariano Rivera because of pain in his pitching forearm.
Think of it as preventive medicine.
MO因為投球的手臂有些疼痛,安全起見,洋基將讓這名終結者休息
The plan is to rest Rivera for a couple of days - but if he experiences pain
again the next time out, Rivera told The Post he would shut it down for a much
longer time.
初步預計,MO需要休息幾天,但他也表示,若仍感到疼痛,這個時間將會拉長.
Rivera knows he needs to be right for the Yankees to be right.

"That's one of the plans; if it doesn't feel the way that we want it to feel we
might shut it down for a week or something like that," said Rivera, the most
valuable Yankee in every season.
"You have to be smart about this," Rivera added.

He also said he never experienced this particular type of pain before, in the
forearm.
"I've had it in the elbow before, but not in the forearm," Rivera said.
Rivera was hopeful that with a few days of solid rest he will be ready to go
for the stretch run then long into October.

Torre is on the same page, saying, "I'm just sort of leaning toward maybe the
next couple of days. We'll just try and take care of him and give him more rest
than you would under normal conditions."

Rivera closed out victories against the Tigers on Wednesday and Thursday. He
has 33 saves. He has saved at least 30 games in four straight seasons and nine
of his past 10. Only Trevor Hoffman (11) and Lee Smith (10) have had more
30-save seasons. Rivera has appeared in 59 games this season.
MO在星期三及星期四對上老虎隊的比賽都上來關門,本季累計有33次救援成功.

Rivera underwent an MRI exam Thursday and the injury was described as a mild
muscle strain.
The true test will be the next time Rivera takes the mound. If the discomfort
continues, he will take an extended rest.
MO星期四接收MRI的檢查,結果顯示肌肉有些緊.真正的試驗是下次MO上投手丘,
若他仍感到不舒服,則會讓他繼續休息.
"Looking back at the test, we're obviously pleased that the results were what
they were," Torre said.
"But I think we have to make an effort to try and rest him a little bit more.
We've always felt this way, whether we have a lead or not. I think we have to
take care of our players. He's too important for us to take a chance with, so
let's just take the warning of the irritation that's there and just try and
behave accordingly. I don't have a plan, other to take it on a day-to-day
basis."
Torre表示:"就視下次投球的狀況而定,但他傾向於多讓MO休息,無論球隊是否領先
