美國有Jeter等人，多明尼加有Tejada，這輩子什麼時後可以看到他重回游擊呢...?

DETROIT -- Despite a published report which indicated that Alex Rodriguez had
decided to play for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, the
Yankees third baseman has not made up his mind which country he would play for
-- if he was invited to participate in the event. Rodriguez was born in in New
York, but his parents are from the Dominican Republic, where he spent some
time during his childhood. According to Dominican constitution, children born
out of the country from Dominican parents are given rights as citizens of the
country, so Rodriguez has dual citizenship.

An ESPN Deportes report said that Rodriguez had agreed to play for the
Dominican team, but Steve Fortunato, a spokesman for Rodriguez, said that was
not the case.

"Alex is very excited about the concept of the World Baseball Classic,"
Fortunato said. "It's too early in the process to even know if Alex is going
to be selected, or which country he would play for if he is selected."

Fortunato said that Rodriguez would wait for the Commissioner's office to set
the criteria for players in his situation before making a decision.

"Alex is an American, but with Dominican hertiage, and he lived in the
Dominican Republic when he was young," Fortunato said. "We'll wait to see how
the Commissioner's office decides to deal with players in that scenario, then
take it from there."

Several media outlets, including Premios Deportivos Latinos and Univision
television, reported that Rodriguez said he would play for the Dominican team.
A story in Hoy on Tuesday had Rodriguez quoted as saying he would play for
the Dominican, though the third baseman told reporters during the All-Star
media day that he had yet to make up his mind.

"I am going to play for the Dominican Republic and I hope it makes the
Dominicans feel proud," Rodriguez told Hoy in Spanish. "I want to say this
very strongly. I am Dominican. ... I am Dominican and that's the flag I will
play for in the World Classic."

Fortunato said that although Rodriguez is quoted in the Hoy report, to his
knowledge, Rodriguez has not yet made a final decision.

"No one is aware of the criteria that determines what country he can play
for," Fortunato said. "Until that happens -- and Alex is selected to play --
it's too early in the process to determine any of this."

Major League Baseball spokesman Pat Courtney said that players with dual
citizenship would be allowed to choose which country they will play for,
adding that the World Baseball Classic will approve all rosters for the
tournament.

"If he has dual citizenship, he has the right to choose," Courtney said.
