NEW YORK -- Yankees players and manager Joe Torre went out of their way to make
sure they didn't insult Miguel Cairo. He did an adequate job filling in for
Robinson Cano for about six weeks, they said.

But as Cano has shown since his return Tuesday, he's the All-Star.

Cano continued his torrid hitting since rejoining the Yankees as he belted a
three-run homer in the second to give the Yankees all the runs they would need
in a 5-2 win over the Angels in the second game of a four-game series.

洋基隊對Miguel Cairo適時填補CANO空缺的表現感到滿意,
但cano一歸隊,立即證明他自己是一名All-Star.

Jaret Wright did much of the rest, working 5 1/3 innings while allowing just
two hits and one run. But while short, yet successful starts have become
Wright's recent trend, Cano's hot hitting after such a long stay on the disabled
list is what's astonishing -- even a bit to him.

Cano is now 9-for-19 with four doubles and two homers since returning.

"I'm not surprised, but I never thought I would do that good," Cano said. "It's
just everything is going well right now."

Cano went on the disabled list on June 27 after he pulled his hamstring legging
out a double against the Marlins. He said he thought he was only going to be
gone about 10 days. Try 42 days and 34 games.

"When I was down in the [training] complex, I was like, 'How's it going to be
like when I get back to the team?'" Cano said. "I was working every day, Monday
through Sunday. I never took a day off."

Cano said he was able to hit every day in the batting cages because the only
thing he couldn't do was run. That didn't keep him from getting frustrated with
how long the process was taking. After all, Cano had never been injured in his
career.

cano說:"當我歸隊時,我真的很高興,我每天都不斷的努力著,
        打擊方面沒有問題,我只是不能跑!"
cano在他的職業生涯中從未受傷過,而如此漫長的復健令他不禁感倒有些洩氣.


When he returned, he went 3-for-5 against Freddy Garcia and the White Sox. He
didn't wait long Saturday either, taking an 0-1 slider deep to right-center
field.

"The guy's amazing," Johnny Damon said. "I still think he's the best hitter on
our team. ... Miguel Cairo came up and filled in well, but having [Cano] back
is definitely special."

Damon followed Cano's homer with a two-run shot of his own to put the Yankees
ahead 5-1 in the second. Damon said he was sitting on a fastball and that's
what he got for homer No. 16 on the season.

而當cano在對White Sox的系列賽歸隊後,他立即就火熱出擊!
Damon說:"這傢伙真是不可思議,我想他是我們隊上最棒的打者,
         Cairo替補上來時表現的很好,但cano能歸隊更是如虎添翼!"

As usual, Wright didn't make things easy on himself. He allowed the leadoff man
to get on in three innings, threw just nine of 21 first pitches for strikes,
walked four and finished with just 42 strikes in 83 pitches.

Yet as he's done for much of the season, it didn't hurt him. Wright now has a
three-game win streak and has won five of his last six decisions. He has a 1.69
ERA in his past three outings and is 9-6 with a 4.24 ERA on the season.

"He keeps you on the edge of your seat but he's got a big heart," manager Joe
Torre said. "He certainly likes to compete."

After throwing a strike to start the game, Wright soon heard boos as he
followed with seven straight balls. He walked leadoff man Chone Figgins then
Vladimir Guerrero with two outs to put runners on first and second. Juan Rivera
followed with an RBI single, but Bobby Abreu gunned Guerrero out trying to move to
third to end the inning.

"Sometimes in the first inning you're trying to figure out what you have," said
Wright, who still hasn't pitched more than six innings this season.

Torre said Wright could have at least gone six Saturday, but he wanted to be
careful since Wright grabbed for his back after pouncing off the mound to field
a comebacker.

Wright said he's fine, and while he'd like to pitch more than six innings, he
isn't bothered by his short outings.

"Every time I go out I'm thinking to go as long as I can," he said. "I try to
stay away from thinking, five, six, or seven innings like that because I think
it will take away from getting through the third or fourth."

如同往常,Wright總愛把他的工作搞的很複雜,有三局他讓首名打者輕鬆上壘,
整場比賽投了四次保送,83個投球中只有42個是好球,但他仍順利解決危機!
Wright已經三連勝了,在這三場比賽中的ERA只有1.69 ,
目前本季成績來到9勝6敗4.24 ERA.

Torre說:"他總是讓你感到心驚膽顫,但你必須承認他的神經有夠大條的!"

比賽開始後,Wright除了第一個是好球外,連投了7個壞球, 此時,主場球迷噓聲四起,
所幸,靠著Abreu一個漂亮的回傳球將Guerrero刺殺於三壘前結束了這一局.

Wright說:"有時在第一局你會去試試哪種球投的比較順",
本球季Wright還沒投超過六局!
在這場比賽中,Wright有可能完成六局的投球,但在一個投手丘前的強襲球後,慎重起見,
Torre決定把Wright換下場.對於此,Wright並不感到不愉快!

Wright說:"每次上場我總是盡我的全力去投久一點,但我不去想究竟是五局.六局.或是七局
因為當我去想這個,總是投個三.四局就下場了".

The Angels threatened again in the sixth as Alex Rodriguez committed error No.
20 of the season with one out, spelling the end of Wright's day. Reliever
Scott Proctor walked the first batter he saw and allowed the two runners to
steal three bases before Jorge Posada ended the threat by picking off Guerrero
straying from second base.

"You need things like that," Torre said, referring to the two defensive plays
to end the Angels' rallies.

The Yankees certainly needed a win after having lost three of four games
against the Angels this season and seven of their last 10 games in the Bronx.
What they needed was Cano.

Cano didn't start in Friday's loss because Torre didn't want to overwork him in
his first week back from the injury. Cano didn't seem thrilled before Friday's
game but accepted the day off.

"They know what they're doing and it's working today," Cano said with a wide
grin and laugh. "Maybe [after] three more games I'll get a day off."

One reporter didn't get the joke and asked if he actually thought he'd be
better with some occasional rest. Cano quickly got serious. He didn't want
anything to be misconstrued.

"No, not nice," he said. "I want to play every day."

After missing so much time, any more time off would not only hurt him, but the
Yankees as well.

cano在星期五的比賽中並沒先發上場,因為Torre並不想過度使用剛傷後歸隊的他,
cano也接受這個休息日.
他笑著說:"教練團很清楚他們的工作,也許三場比賽後,我又有另一個休息日了!" ^ ^

一名不解風情的記者似乎不懂得欣賞這個幽默而追著問cano是否覺得自己偶而休息會表現
的更好?
cano立即嚴肅的澄清這個誤會:"不!我想要每天上場打球!!!"

是阿!cano若不能上場對他是一種傷害,而洋基也不願他在回傷兵名單了!
