[新聞] Zaun's agent staying in contact with Cashman

  Finding a capable backup catcher is high on the Yankees' agenda this
offseason, and the agent for Gregg Zaun said last night that he has been in
"consistent" contact with general manager Brian Cashman.
找一個有能力的後備捕手是洋基在這個球季後的重要目標,然後Gregg Zaun的經紀人說他
和洋基的經理Brian Cashman在昨晚有一個目標一至的會談.

  A of teams have expressed interest in Zaun as a starting catcher next season,
but agent T.R. Lewis said last night that Zaun has not ruled out signing with
the Yankees as Jorge Posada's backup.

Zaun was hoping to re-sign with the Blue Jays to be their starter after three
solid years as the backup. But negotiations did not pan out and the Blue Jays
are poised to sign Rod Barajas.

判並沒有成功同時藍鳥隊要仔細考慮要去簽Rod Barajas

Zaun, who reportedly turned down a two-year, $6-million offer from the Jays,
is seeking a deal worth more than the two-year, $5.5-million contract the
Cubs gave backup Henry Blanco.
Zaun將要結束他和藍鳥隊的2年6百萬美元的合約,他要尋找一份比小熊隊的後備捕手
Henry Blanco2年550萬美元還要更多的合約.

Meanwhile, the Giants are closing in on signing Rich Aurilia, in whom the
Yankees had expressed interest as a first baseman/utility player.
Agent Barry Axelrod refused to rule out the Yankees but acknowledged the
Giants seem poised to sign the former St. John's standout. "It's looking that
way," he said.
在此同時,巨人隊將要簽下Rich Aurilia,而這是洋基希望簽下擔任他們的一壘手或
多功能選手,他的經紀人Barry Axelrod沒有拒絕考慮洋基的提案但是表示巨人似乎在

That leaves Shea Hillenbrand and Eduardo Perez as the most obvious free-agent
options to play first base next season. Zaun has played only two games in the
majors at first base, but Lewis said he has talked with the Yankees about
that option.
而Shea Hillenbran和Eduardo Perez似乎是FA市場上最明顯的選擇能夠在下一球季擔任
一壘手的選手. Zaun只有再大聯盟等級的比賽中打過2場擔任一壘手的比賽,但是Lewis說
這是他跟洋基說這也是另外一種選擇
