Bio: Appointed Washington Nationals third-base coach on January 12, 2006...spent the last 5 years as a manager in the PIT organization, posting a combined .590 winning percentage (372-258) and appearing in the postseason all 5 seasons...managed in Altoona (2004-05, Double-A Eastern League), Hickory (2002-03, Single-A South Atlantic League) and Wil-liamsport (2001, short-season Single-A NY-P League)...also managed Mesa in the Arizona Fall League in 2004, and by virtue of a first place finish there, had earned 6 post-season berths in 5 years as a pro manager...joins Washingtons staff despite accepting a position as NYYs roving minor-league infield instructor in December 2005. Coaching Career: Skippered Double-A Altoona last year to a 76-66 record and a 2nd-place finish in the Eastern Leagues Southern Division...the Curve fell to Akron 3-2 in the best-of-5 Southern Division Championship Series...guided the Curve to a league-best 85-56 record and their first appearance in the Eastern League Championship Series in 2004, and for his efforts was tabbed by Baseball America as its Double-A Manager of the Year...swept Erie in the semifinals before being swept by New Hampshire in the finals...served as a coach at the 2004 Futures Game during All-Star Game festivities at Houstons Minute Maid Park...in 2003, was named Baseball Americas Low Class-A Manager of the Year for the 2nd straight season as the skipper for Hickory...coached at the Sally League All-Star Game that year, and managed Hickory to a 2nd straight appearance in the SAL finals...also managed the Mesa Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League fol-lowing the 2003 season, and guided the club to a 18-13 mark and a first-place finish...lost to the Mesa Solar Sox in the AFL Championship Series...in 2002, led Hickory to the SAL championship and the 5th-best record in the minors with an 83-56 mark...was named the manager on the SALs post-season All-Star squad...managed short-season Single-A Williamsport to a 46-26 record and a first-place finish in 2001...club was declared co-champions along with Brooklyn after the events of September 11...was the hitting coach for Single-A Lynchburg in 2000 and the GCL Pirates in 99. Playing Career: Hit .260 with 22 homers and 242 RBI in 854 games over 9 minor-league seasons in the Pirates and Orioles chains from 1990-98...was acquired by PIT from BAL for infielder Tommy Shields September 5, 1991...was a Carolina League All-Star in both 1990 and 1991...earned Southern League All-Star honors in 1996.
