TWNIC Proxy Cache Server 正式開放
TWNIC 即日起提供 http 之 Proxy Cache 服務，如果您想加
快對國外之連線，歡迎使用本 Proxy Cache Server．
以下是本 Proxy Cache Server 基本介紹：
採用 Squid Cached 1.1.beta19(Harvest Cached 後續版)， Port
3128
，磁碟機容量約為 2G． 因為 Beta
版，仍在測試階段，如有發現任何異常現象，請速通知
系統管理者．如果您對此系統目前運作狀況有興趣的話，可以使用Cache
Manager瞭解一下或參考設定檔(squid.conf)
如何設定 Proxy ？
Netscape: Options -> Network Preferences... -> Proxies (3.0
only)
選擇 Manual Proxy Configuration 並按下 View
在 FTP/Gopher/HTTP Proxy: 中填上 www.twnic.net
在相對的 Port: 填上 3128, 建議在 No Proxy for: 填上
twnic.net,edu.tw (或 tw 若您只想對 tw 的站做直接 access)
Internet Explorer: The Internet -> properties -> Advanced ->
選擇 Use Proxy Server
在 Proxy Server: 填上 www.twnic.net:3128
在 Bypass proxy on: 填上 twnic.net
Internet Explorer 3.0(中文): 檢視 -> 選項 -> 連線
在 透過 Proxy 伺服器連線到 Internet 上打勾並按下 設定值
按鈕
分別在 HTTP/FTP/Gopher 的 Proxy 位址 填上 www.twnic.net
並在 連接埠 中填上 3128
在 開頭是下列位址不使用 Proxy 中填上 *.twnic.net
打勾 近端(intranet)位址不使用 proxy 伺服器 即可

Harvest/Squid Cached 是美國政府大力支持下之研究計畫．除本身具
proxy
cache 功能 外，它的 neighbor query
功能亦減少了不少遠距傳輸之流量，在資訊高速公路塞車的台
灣來說，相當有幫助．當然，neighbor hit 之功能能否發揮要視各主機的
cache 容量，
保留時間與使用者取用各資源之頻率而定．以下是本伺服器觀察數日以來
Hit Rate 較高 之主機，適合當 Neighbor ．

NOTE: 要不要設定 proxy-only, 依以下情況而定:
1.本身 cache 空間小, 且很容易滿, 則建議使用 proxy-only.
2.讓 Server 跑幾天後以 cache manager 檢查 Cache Server List,
如果
neighbor 的反應較遲鈍, 如 PINGS ACKED 在 50% 以下, 則不設
proxy-only.

即當以某主機為 neighbor 時，在 cache_host_domain 部份則避開該
Domain
Network． 又由於 Hinet 與 TANet 之間仍有頻寬問題,
建議兩者之間若設為
neighbor 時, 應將整 個 .tw 排除掉, 或排除同屬區網的部份. 如 在
*.edu.tw 的
Proxy Server 選擇 *.com.tw (或 *.net.tw 和 *.net) 等商業單位之
Server 做為
neighbor 時, 應設為 cache_host_domain XXXX !.edu.tw (或 !.tw).
或如果您想完全不把國內之 request 轉向 neighbor
查詢的話，則可對國內之機器設定為 local domain/ip:
